Pokkén Tournament DX is a thoroughly enjoyable experience that undoubtedly deserves your time. The game impressed on every level; the core fighting gameplay is superb and incredibly extensive, the customisation options are truly staggering, and the attention to detail is abundantly clear. Not entirely faultless, but very close to it, this game is the Switch's next must-buy.

Pokkén is also a solid choice for Switch because it perfectly suits the console's local multiplayer ethos; the game's control scheme fits perfectly on a single Joy-Con, which means you can take the fight with you anywhere you wish. Whether or not the five additional Battle Pokémon and the light dusting of additional modes and features will be enough to convince existing Pokkén fans to upgrade so soon after the Wii U version remains to be seen, but taken on its own merits this is comfortably one of the the best fighting games on the Switch right now, and offers surprising depth, stunning presentation, brilliant offline and onli ne multiplayer modes and bags of replayability.

With an expanded roster that only improves on an already great lineup, fantastic gameplay, and an increased range of challenges and modes, Pokkén Tournament DX is true fighting game gold.

Pokken Tournament Deluxe is a knockout fighting game that’s perfect for the Switch. With new characters, revamped game modes, and the ability to take the game anywhere, this is one Pokémon game you should fight for this fall.

Not only is it a great game to be able to sink a few rounds of practice into while commuting or during a lunch break, as an adult with a job, a big part of the problem I had with the original was getting people to actually play it couch-multiplayer style.

Finally, after a disappointing Wii U version, Pokkén Tournament achieves its full potential. The single player mode is still a simple sequence of matches, but there are many alternative modes and new characters to keep you busy. And if you have some friends to play with, that's just the cherry on top.

Pokken Tournament is a very entertaining game on the Nintendo Switch that successfully gives players an almost Tekken-light experience on this console that is more fun than controller rage. Furthermore, there’s quite a bit of depth hidden in this game and hours upon hours of replay value to keep you engaged as you fight the various Pokémon.

It may not be as deep and complex as some traditional fighting games. But the gameplay is solid and fun, and fans will love the Pokémon setting (the creatures and its attacks never looked so good). It has additional characters compared to the Wii U game.

Yes, Pokkén Tournament DX is essentially exactly the same game as the one on the Wii U that came out one and a half years ago. But the five new characters, the new modes and the mobility of the Switch make this a worthy port, not in the least because the fighting system is simply very cool.

As both a Pokemon and semi-casual fighting genre fan I appreciate the amount of detail that went into Pokken Tournament Deluxe. From the design of each Pokemon to the detailed landscape of the battle arenas, no detail went overlooked. Although Pokken is accessible enough for fans that don’t want to get into the weeds it’s clear who the intended audience is. From the detail of the fighting mechanics down to the rewatchable replays, Pokken Tournament DX was expertly designed for the advanced fighting genre fan.

It's a perfect game for local or online multiplayer matches.

When Pokemon meets Tekken, wild brawls are about to take place in the Ferrum region. A fun addition for the Nintendo Switch; might not be able to easily persuade old players to give it a try again, but can easily win the hearts of newcomers with a gameplay that is compelling, deep and addictive.

If you are weighing up the decision on whether you should buy Pokkén Tournament DX, it’s an easy one to make. Despite its flaws, it’s a fantastic fighting game that is easy to pick up, making it appealing to the casual and hardcore audience alike. Fans of Pokémon would be crazy to overlook it, and fighting game fans should find something unique here.

If you absolutely loved the original and are hungry for more, Pokkén DX won't disappoint.

Pokkén Tournament DX is the definitive edition of one of the best fighting games on Nintendo consoles. This port takes advantage of Nintendo Switch's hardware which lets us play on the go and share the experience with anyone. A must have if you didn't own the Wii U version.

A funny and approachable fighting game that uses the Nintendo Switch portability perfectly. Perfect for local or online multiplayer matches, it features great technical improvements over its Wii U version, but lacks of interesting content when it comes to single player modes. The Deluxe version can be considered the definitive edition of Pokkén Tournament.

It will probably come as no surprise, but Pokkén Tournament DX on the Switch is the way to go. It offers everything from the original, but with added content and a much better platform to play it on. Yeah they probably could have spent more time with technical improvements like a higher resolution, but we also didn’t get a disaster on our hands as some ports can tend to turn out.

New characters, replays and daily challenges are welcome additions to the Pokken Tournament Definitive Edition. The game fits well in the Nintendo Switch library and feels comfortable as an on-the-go experience.

This deluxe version of Pokémon Tekken manages to impress with new Pokémon and multiplayer modes, the single player mode is still missing variety however.

Pokken Tournament DX is really good. It was good on the Wii U, and it’s still good on the Switch. While I would’ve appreciated if the developers put more effort into giving DX a little more meat on its bones, there’s no denying that what’s already here is great fun. If you’ve never given this game a go, now’s the perfect time to check it out.
