With an interesting story and unique villains and ancient lore, you will be hopelessly captivated from start to finish each and every time you play this game.

The Forgotten Sands is more than just a return to form for a long-running franchise: it's also one of the most gratifying platforming epics to come along in ages.

With solid platforming and tricky puzzles it's a long-awaited return to form for the Prince.

Games Master UK May 20, 2024
Slick, challenging gameplay with brilliant pace, marred only by the average combat.

While it misses the mark of nailing the same sense of magic and wonder of the original trilogy, fans who had missed this style and approach in 2008's Prince of Persia offering should welcome this new-yet-familiar adventure with open arms.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands successfully manages to represent the great platforming gameplay and level design of the first Ubisoft game: unfortunately it will end in less than eight hours, and this is its main shortcoming.

If this were a novel or comic, it would be utterly without merit or point, filling in a gap that didn't exist before its creation and serving only to kill time. As a game, it's another run through comfortable and familiar ground, and serves to remind people why the Prince of Persia series is so universally beloved.

The best part about Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is that it's a lot of fun.

Long time fans might snicker at another version of the Prince, after having to adjust to the new 'Prince of Persia' in 2008. However, 'The Forgotten Sands' isn't that bad, it is actually really good, and even better yet, it's not a movie-tie in placeholder, it's a real game!

It's a fantastic installment for newcomers to the Prince of Persia series, but those who've been Persia fans since Sands of Time may find The Forgotten Sands mildly forgettable.

A far better Prince of Persia title than we've seen in years. I'm not sure that I would place it on a level with Sands of Time, but it's easily the second best 3D Prince of Persia title to date.

Forgotten Sands may not be one of the most stunning games released this year, but just like the previous Prince of Persia games, Forgotten Sands knocks it out of the park with some of the most satisfying platforming you’ll see this year.

IGN May 20, 2024
The story and visuals are unimpressive, but the combat and platforming are good enough that anyone who's been longing for another PoP game since 2005's Two Thrones is in for a treat.

The Forgotten Sands is a conceptual step back for the franchise, but for once that's not a terrible thing. The Sands of Time trilogy was hugely entertaining, and this return to that formula puts a great face on the franchise to new series converts while pleasing old fans with a return to form.

GamesRadar+ May 20, 2024
Lighter, more focused and ultimately more linear than its predecessors, Forgotten Sands never quite feels like a "real" Prince of Persia game, but its popcorn plot and slickly designed, trap-filled environments make it wildly enjoyable anyway.

MS Xbox World May 20, 2024
The Forgotten Sands more than captures the old, classic Sands of Time magic, so hats off to Ubisoft for a job well done.

IGN UK May 20, 2024
True, the button-happy combat might be a step backward in many respects but the sheer quality and purity of the excellent, inventive platform action should be more than enough to keep fans happy.

In no way is it a genuine Prince of Persia for this generation (we prefer to forget the 2008 title), but it does offer something that's a little more challenging on the mind and reflexes than the typical third-person action/adventure.

It may not represent a revolution for the franchise, but it is certainly a welcome return to form, and comes with a number of updates and improvements to create a smooth and enjoyable experience. This is not a "movie game."

The platforming is absolutely satisfying, but the simplified combat scheme and occasional glitches will leave you wanting for more. Challenge mode and unlockable Ezio skin (via UPlay) extend replay value ever-so-slightly.
