It has been a while since I've had so much pure joy while playing a game.

Game Chronicles May 7, 2024
In a world where third-person action shooters are a dime a dozen, this is one game that breaks all the rules. The intuitive controls, addictive Psi-Powers, non-linear design, and immersive story will keep you glued to your Xbox until the very end and have you stalking your game store for the inevitable sequel.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy came out of left field, a relatively unknown game with a sketchy premise, but turned out to be a fantastic title that's well worth the time.

I wasn't expecting much more than a novelty act, to be honest. The well-implemented psychic elements in the game really make Psi-Ops stand out and provide a fun experience throughout.

You'll never get enough of picking up a soldier, watching him flail around, followed by throwing him into a wall. The rag doll physics help add to the diabolical pleasure as limbs fly all over the place when tossed from one part of the room to the other.

There is no other game like Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy out at the moment and it is one of the best action games to blast onto the scene in a long, long time. Do not let this one slip by you.

It was a nice breath of fresh air to have these telepathic abilities that worked so well with the game.

I was totally impressed with the gameplay from start to finish and I can safely say that not only do I highly recommend this game but I can't wait for the sequel.

The attention-grabbing graphic effects and tight control scheme that allows Psi-Ops players to wreck super-powered havoc on the enemy tips the balance in making it a good purchase for action game fans, despite its lone boss battle bug and minor design problems.

Unlike any title you've seen before, and will likely leave you breathless and craving more when the credits roll.

The game is fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Unlike many games, you don't have to sneak through 80 percent of the game if you don't want to.

Not for the timid, Psi-Ops features some flat-out nasty moments. Sneak up on enemies to drain their minds of psi energy and pop open their heads. Set some poor bastard on fire and he'll run around screaming.

You will forget all about the sub-par graphics and sound. You just won't care, because you're having too much fun exploring and killing and moving.

One of the biggest factors in this masterful staging is the truly cinematic feel that the game has.

Midway brings one of the most unique games to hit the market this summer.

We're talking levitating enemies and sending them flying across the room or setting things (and people) aflame--how is that not fun?

I fear that as much as Psi-Ops was helpful for the action genre, it may actually be harmful with many games trying to use the same techniques with allowing players to have Psionic powers at their own disposal.

IGN May 7, 2024
Psi-Ops still suffers from baffling design decisions and is an ultimately short-lived experience. But in this case, the benefits of a lethal cerebellum far outweigh the negatives of being a brightly burning flame that's perhaps a bit too ambitious.

The great thing about the game is that you can take it on at your own pace, with your own style.

Game Over Online May 7, 2024
The combination of decent plot, reality-defying powers and Havok-governed physics make one incredibly compelling experience.
