Internet game play is also the game's biggest plus -- "Unreal Tournament" on the PS2 is still a one-player game.

Don't expect depth, merely an ongoing rush of a pure gaming high. Bliss!

Those who haven't already bought a copy of it should promptly have their heads examined.

Everything about the Dreamcast port of QIIIA came together supremely well at the end: graphics, ambient BGM, sound effects, control, lag-free internet frag-a-thons (most of the time anyway), everything!

QIII's smooth 360-degree graphics and chilling sound effects succeed in completely immersing the player in its bizarre kill-or-be-killed world.

Quake 3 Arena is so damn good, scratch that, so damn near perfect, that it makes anybody who believes the future of gaming is not online look like a fool.

Sega X May 9, 2024
This game will make you shake all over and keep you up at nights.

Gaming Maxx May 9, 2024
A home console first-person shooter has never looked this damn good.

The speed will amaze you and the gameplay and graphics will blow you away. Go get it. Now.

Four players isn't quite enough to maintain the excitement level of the PC version.

GameSpot May 9, 2024
Like the great looking textures, the game's 3D models and special effects are very impressive.

Dreamcast.net May 9, 2024
Possibly the best console FPS to date. Period.

IGN May 9, 2024
This game is not at its best with a standard Dreamcast controller. You need a mouse and keyboard.

Core Magazine May 9, 2024
While many had doubts if something as complex and demanding as the Quake 3 engine could be ported to a hardware-limited console, those fears can be swept aside as Quake 3 Arena features sharp and detailed graphics that run at a solid speed even when the fragging heats up.

Gaming Age May 9, 2024
With over 30 warriors to choose from, and over 30 maps, this game will take a while to get old. No matter how you play this game though, you're sure to have a blast.

Game Revolution May 9, 2024
Looks almost as good as its PC brother, the only real difference being screen resolution, which can't be helped. The game is playing on your T.V., for God's sake

CNET Gamecenter May 9, 2024
Without a doubt, the best PC-to-console port ever seen.

The only reason I can't give the game a perfect score is the 4 player limitation on online mode.

Spank! May 9, 2024
This is the fastest, smoothest, most graphically sumptuous first person shooter available at the moment. Get used to the control method and you will be riveted; Get a mouse and a keyboard and you'll be unstoppable.

Despite its flaws, Quake III on the Dreamcast is probably the best FPS game on any console, with the possible exception of the almighty "Goldeneye."
