There are some annoying niggles in the single-player campaign and a few conspicuously missing features so there’s room for improvement, though it’s overall fun. It’s definitely a slower-paced shooter that requires a lot of patience for success, but if you’re willing to put in the effort to be a perfectionist policeman, Ready or Not will be right up your precinct.

Ready or Not isn't the perfect simulator, but it's an excellent shooter that places users in consistently believable and detailed contexts, providing them with a myriad of options on how to operate. Net of some imperfections and a single level of difficulty that can put even the most experienced players' nerves to the test, it is the one and only spiritual heir of SWAT worthy of being defined as such.

Ready or Not is incredibly exciting, especially in co-op. The gunplay is excellent, the missions are exhilarating and if you don't pay attention to the smallest details, you might get into trouble. Tactics and teamwork are crucial, as is your choice of equipment. If you are looking for your new co-op obsession, Ready or Not is a very good choice. Solo players wait for the Commander mode becoming more fleshed-out.

If, like me, you've been thirsting for more SWAT, it's really time to get this and with tactics, strategy and patience set off on Los Sueño's worst criminals.

For those craving tactical and extremely realistic shooting games, Ready or Not is the best option currently available, whether you're a fan of single-player or multiplayer games.

Ready or Not might feel at odds with itself a little from time to time, but it’s still a solid if unspectacular squad shooter.

To conclude, let me tell you that if you are looking for a tactical shooter title that really presents you with a challenge, this game is without a doubt for you, for others it can be somewhat frustrating at times, but not boring at all. The game tries at all times to make you feel that you are in a real life scenario, its level of graphics is not cutting edge, but that does not mean that it feels very realistic, although it has several errors in optimization, the ambient sound is excellent and that It helps a lot in the development of the different missions, constantly creating tension.

As a successor to the S.W.A.T. games and tickling a strategic itch that Rainbow Six hasn’t scratched in years, Ready or Not nails the tension and tactical satisfaction that this genre prides itself on. Its single-player Commander mode is one of the better ‘training’ modes for a hardcore multiplayer game in years, though the wobbly AI can lead to many frustrating failures. With friends or a like-minded community, there’s probably no other tactical co-op game this engaging or evocative right now. It’s just a damn shame that the game’s matchmaking does nothing to nurture this experience.

Ready or Not is a game that is designed to make players feel uncomfortable. In one way, its tense gunfights and the uncertainty of what's behind the next door achieve that in spades. On the other, the locations and missions will cut a little too close to reality for some.

While Ready or Not isn't without its minor bugs and occasional performance issues, it remains a solid game. It offers a distinctive gaming experience that is somewhat rare in today’s gaming landscape.

Ready or Not features levels where you break apart a child exploitation ring, assault a streamer’s house whilst they’re livestreaming, get called to an active shooter situation on a college campus, and pick through the aftermath of a shooting at a gay nightclub. There’s trying hard and then there’s this.

Ready or Not successfully imports the moment-to-moment gameplay and intensity of the classic SWAT franchise, but without much innovation and a host of major AI issues this tactical shooter was seemingly not quite ready to breach out of Early Access.
