Red Dead Redemption 1 will be coming to PC this month with a bunch enhancements, a year following its confusing Switch and PS4 ports
Rockstar, you rascals. You did it again. We're used to the strange song and dance the company does with all its newreleases. It will hit consoles then around a month or two later, it will inevitably make the jump to PC where many people buy it again. But I admit I didn't expect it to pull the similar stunt with the first Red Dead Redemption.
The OG RDR was released on the Nintendo Switch and PS4 in a move that I called "baffling", for its apparent decision not to include PC. Guess what? It's been a little over a month since the release of Red Dead Redemption 1. Red Dead Redemption 1 and its spooky American Nightmare expansion are coming to PC. It will be released on October 29, just before Halloween. There is no multiplayer. Sorry, social people.
There are also a lot of bells and whistles that will make up for the long wait. According to Rockstar, the PC version will have all sorts of enhancements that will make John Marston's character more detailed than ever. This means "native native 4K resolution up to 144hz, monitor support for Ultrawide (21/9) and Super Ultrawide (32/9), HDR10, and full keyboard-and-mouse functionality." There's DLSS 3.7, FSR 3.0 and other support like in the Wild West.
Rockstar's sombre Cowboy Tale from 2010 is what you're looking for. It takes place followingRed Dead Redemption 2. John Marston is the main character and he tracks the surviving Van der Linde Gang members. Imagine it as a cowboy GTA with a little more soul and less nihilism compared to GTA 5. Rockstar was still in the soulful GTA 4 period back then.
RDR 1 will be available in most places where you would like to purchase it. You can buy it on Steam, Epic Games Store (no link is live yet) or directly from Rockstar if you prefer.
