Pick it up and get ready for a whole lot of fun and the good kind of gameplay frustration.

I've been scared off by similar games, but Risk of Rain is worth the struggle.

Risk of Rain is highly enjoyable, and with constant rewards of new items and character classes, it's hard to put down once you start. Even as I watched the last of the end credits roll by, I wiped the sweat from my brow and jumped back into the fray: I have an item log that still needs to be filled.

Any time Risk of Rain loses its sheen, you can always start again, with a new character.

It's a hard-won thrill, and one errant bullet or second of distraction is enough to undo it all. If you can accept that challenge, if you can pick yourself up and start all over again whenever you fail, you will lose hours to Risk of Rain. Whether you mean to or not.

Heaps of fun, dirt cheap. The game keeps coming up with entertaining challenges and enjoyable surprises.

Risk of Rain might appeal to gamers who thrill over the challenge set forth by games like Demon’s Souls or FTL: Faster Than Light, but the uninitiated will find Risk of Rain hard to approach.

In the interest of accommodating it all, the awful maximum resolution and the tiny sprites are just about excused.

Risk of Rain is a lot of fun. Though it is held back by its technical faults (which can be reasonably expected from a project created by two students), it has the right stuff to elicit the "just one more run" response that roguelike games are known for. With a little more polish, it could be truly great.

Risk of Rain is a survival shooter featuring interesting mechanisms, where you will have to make quick decisions. And it's even more fun if played with friends in co-op mode.

Last time I had so much fun with characters built of handful of pixels was probably in the Lemmings era.

Incredible work went into the design of almost every element of Risk of Rain, shame that the gameplay couldn't have been more inspired.
