Music notwithstanding, Riskers lacks the character of its peers. There’s a big city in which I can steal cars and shoot bystanders, but there’s not much else. The narrative may have helped the game standout, but there’s not enough there to have an impact.

In general, I don’t mind new games that get inspiration from some of these older hits, as long as they find a way to improve upon their predecessors. Unfortunately, Riskers doesn’t pull this off. The open-world lacks the reckless abandon found in GTA, and the shooter missions are not up to par with the stylized graphics and pace of Hotline: Miami. If I didn’t have any prior knowledge of the games, I would swear GTA and Hotline were the evolution of Riskers, not the other way around.

If you want a top-down game that lets you shoot people and steal cars, you might get more out of this. However, the storyline isn’t very strong, and it’s quite repetitive. Riskers could have been more, but sadly it isn’t.
