Transforming robots, stylish graphics and a huge variety of missions make up for the occasional bump in the road.

Brilliant use of cell shading to create an animated effect and the surprisingly workable control scheme.

Devotees of the old TV series will be thrilled.

Battlecry gives you some blistering combat, but the franchise could truly explode if it tapped into the series' rich subtleties.

Fans of the Robotech series should be highly impressed. Others … well maybe, maybe not.

The A.I and such may seem rather disappointing at times, but when you get down to the bare bones of it all, this is just a fun game to play and enjoy.

The game play is exciting and difficult at times but all in all it is an astounding chance to take on the role of a Veritech fighter pilot.

A must have for fans of the series, or lovers of mechs, but a definite avoid for pirates, and people with two fingers.

It does an incredible job of re-creating the show's fast-paced mech combat by combining slick animation and spot-on controls.

If the show could be slowed down by the multiple drawn out love stories, then the game certainly gets bogged down by gameplay that eventually gets repetitive and cheesy AI that doesn't present enough new challenges.

Despite the inclusion of original voice-talent from the show, cel-shaded graphics that closely mimick the Robotech universe, and the ability to transform the Veritech at will, the title still comes off as an average mech game with bland objectives and sloppy play-control.

A decent, but unremarkable game. The story, graphics, music, and voice acting will greatly appeal to fans of the show, but I don't see these aspects bringing new fans into the fold.

The engine is slick and the action thick... Just know that the gameplay mechanics throughout fail to present the depth needed to truly engage long-term.

If Robotech authenticity is more important to you than gameplay diversity, then here's your chance to finally join the RDF.

The overall result is a Robotech fan's dream come true (the amount of "Paint Designs" and extras to unlock, like cast interviews, is staggering) but also a unique mission-based mech game that (finally) breathes some fresh air into an otherwise stale category.

The game suffers from a number of problems that even the most ardent fans of the series will have a hard time overlooking, not the least of which are repetitive missions, sluggish controls, and empty levels.

It's disappointing to see developer Vicious Cycle nail the look and feel of a Veritech fighter, only to drop the ball on finer details like graphics, level design, and overall story...We wanted something more.

The level design is mostly uninspired, but there are some great dogfight stages and one-on-one boss battles.

I'd recommend "Gundam" or "Armored Core" for better anime robot-fighting value.

The on screen combat in Robotech: Battlecry can get a little hectic at times. This can lead to confusion and panic, as it can quickly become unclear as to what is going on with so much happening on the screen at one time.
