While we're certainly not starving for Action RPGs these days Sacred 3 does manage to stand out.

Yes, the game isn’t perfect but it’s a lot of fun.

I can see how Sacred 3 is going to upset purists and longtime fans; the latest entry has as much in common with Skylanders as it does with previous entries, to be honest. If you’re dead-set on an open world, this one’s dead in the water. If you liked last year’s Sacred: Citadel and want a slightly deeper take on it, however, it’s worth a shot.

Behind the name, there's solid hack and slash with some decent enemies. But Sacred? Not to anyone, it seems.

Sacred 3 doesn’t do a whole lot wrong other than having lackluster writing. However, as has always been the case with the series, the action is very standard. There’s not a great deal of depth, but if you want to spend a few hours hacking and slashing your way through hordes of enemies, you could do a lot worse.

Entertaining, but shallow co-op and not really a successor to the RPG series.

Sacred 3 is a hack 'n' slash game that surprises for its combat system and cooperative experience.

This is a good fun, except for those who look for something that feels like the first episode in the series. It's less RPG and more action, but if you're OK with that, it deserves a try.

For all intents and purposes, Sacred 3 is a beat ‘em up that can be completed by simply button mashing, and that’s fine to me. Yes, for fans it will feel like a very dumbed down version of their beloved franchise, but I still found myself wanting to complete it even when it did get a bit monotonous.

Compared to its obvious rival Diablo, Sacred 3 lacks depth and genre-stables like a proper inventory and constant looting. This makes the experience more arcade-like, and ultimately less interesting. However, team up with three like-minded friends for a bunch of monster-smashing, and Sacred 3 has plenty to offer.

Calling Sacred 3 a desecration might be a bit harsh but the new direction this series has taken is questionable at best. It’s a decent but overtly simple action RPG. Probably not the sequel Sacred fans were waiting for.

Sacred 3 is an entertaining 'beat em up' especially for its cooperative multiplayer mode... and nothing else.

A beautifully detailed, enjoyably shallow experience that's better with friends. Sacred 2 fans hoping for a real action-RPG likely won't be pleased, but as a simple, straightforward slash-'em-up, this stands ably enough on its own.

Hack'n'slashing and action RPGing without loot means no replayability, and that's a true shame, especially considering the fact that the combat system is far from perfect, but not bad at all.

Fans beware: This is not a Sacred game, no matter how many threes they put on the box. There is no loot, no in-depth RPG elements and no open world to explore. Above all, the game is bursting with insufferable humor and exhausting voice acting. If you manage to ignore all that, there is a good chance you might enjoy the simple combat, co-op mode and decent graphics. Even though the whole thing turns stale pretty quickly.

Sacred 3 is a mildly fulfilling hack and slash game that, while fun in limited doses, isn't a patch on previous entries, and does very little to stand out within the genre in which it wishes to now be housed.

Considering the scope of its predecessors and how far the genre has come since the series’ inception a decade ago, that’s as unnecessary as it is unwelcome. Still, there’s potential here and approached with the right mindset and a group of friends there’s some fun to be had. Streamline your expectations, in other words, and you’re more likely to view Sacred 3 as slick rather than shallow.

It's a good approach, but the execution leaves something to be desired in almost every area.

Sacred 3 is a whole new experience but not a better experience. The game is linear, the gameplay is flat and the customization doesn't exist. In coop is fun to play, though.

Way too simplistic and not enough variety. This does not feel like a Sacred-game at all.
