What really delivers now, however, is Elite mode. Forget the needlessly intimidating name; this is shooter-as-sport par excellence, an exquisitely balanced and enormously fun mode unlike anything else in the genre.

ShootMania loads quickly, alt-tabs like a champ and is a fantastic example of a game that can take five minutes to learn, but countless hours to master in its addictive gameplay formula.

It certainly won't appeal to everyone, but ShootMania casts off the unnecessary reliance on perks and weapon loadouts for a multiplayer shooter experience that is considerably more involving - and rewarding - than any Call Of Duty game.

If you are looking for an arena FPS, simply, fun but at the same time able to offer an high level of challenge, then make it yours.

Shootmania is a fast and fun shooter that is a blast to play. For the $20 asking price it gives you more than enough content to play around with and the games growth in terms of content is only limited by its playerbase's imagination. If you are looking for a FPS that is different from your typical Call Of Duty and Battlefields, which dominate the market today, you cannot go wrong with Shootmania.

It’s nice to get back to basics with ShootMania Storm and recall a time when we played for the joy of playing...And while the creation tools offer a potential for unlimited greatness, the truth is that ShootMania is fun today.

A simple, fast and addictive shooter that TrackMania fans will love. It's focused on its community, since there's absolute freedom for mods and sharing users' creation, so it's up to the players shaping the future of this game.

ShootMania Storm is fast, immediate and skill-based. The gameplay could appear too simple and poor for many players, but those who want to explore their skill limits have a nice place to do so.

A pure shooter, a game that must be seen as a progressive challenge in order to compete. Its appeal is limited to only certain types of players but those who embrace it will have a really good experience.

We feel confident that Shootmania Storm will be worthwhile more for the future user-generated content than for the actual gameplay offer. Buy it if you want to invest in an interesting old-school competitive FPS.

Though the menus are clunky and the game doesn't do much to welcome new players, the core game of Shootmania Storm is so wonderful to play that I can't help but want to always improve. It has a remarkably high skill ceiling, even if the basic controls seem simple at first. I believe the phrase is "easy to understand, difficult to master."

Shootmania Storm is pure adrenaline and competition, mixed together with simple, yet intuitive shooting mechanics, making for one of the most entertaining first person shooters in a long time, despite certain rudimentary flaws.

Shootmania Storm is essentially an old-fashioned “arena shooter", accessible but hard for beginners at the same time.

Bred from a high profile e-sports culture, ShootMania Storm wins the challenge of bonding Hardcore and casual gamers together by submitting various mods. If we can regret the poorly made ManiaPlanet the community experience and the freedom allowed by the dev to the gamers in terms of customization and gameplay should succeed. With a retail price of 20€ and the availability of Royal and Elite mod as freewares, this game has a strong financial appeal, knowing that e-sports already welcomed ShootMania in the family, we guess there will be active servers for years to come...Let's hope it will be as successful as the Trackmania franchise.

This is what ShootMania is about: consistent minimalism, first-rate e-sports suitability and loads of creative potential. Still, sometimes you might hunger for something more that a bare bones match with three different guns, after all, games like Quake and Unreal Tournament didn't become classics in spite of, but because of their ludicrous arsenals. If you can live without the graphical opulence of the other offerings and are dead-set on pure playability, you won't regret getting this.

The creators of Trackmania turn to the FPS genre, with a fast and direct game focused on multiplayer.

It’s a fabulously designed game with an interface so antiquated that only the most dedicated and nostalgic shooter enthusiasts will stick with it. In the end, maybe that’s for the best. You don’t see a lot of trucker hat-wearing Natty Ice-drinkers in Go parlours either.

If you want to shoot people in a different way and have a tolerance to learn, then ShootMania is the place to go and do that, and the future can only look brighter once the community floods the game with their creativity.

An unpretentious, sharp-edged thrill of a skill-based shooter. And we haven't said that in quite some time.

If blood of the true multiplayer gamer runs through your veins and if you know the rocket jumping, then ShootMania Storm is just for you. And if not, do not be afraid, go ahead and defeat those gamers. Your skill is your limit.
