A truly unique and innovative game which breathes new life into the wargaming and real-time genres and provides one of the best multi-player experiences ever devised in computer gaming. What's more, it is enormously fun and challenging to play.

A groundbreaking historical strategy game, but not because of innovation, rather because of execution...The random scenarios, the multiplayer combinations of 1 to 7 players on each side, and the top-notch AI make this a historical game that has great re-playability.

This game is about as solid as the Union line on Cemetery Ridge. It has all the right ingredients to please Civil War buffs, hard-core strategy fans, and maybe even some casual gamers adventurous enough to try something new.

A cross-over wargame that has depth, beauty, smarts, and replayability.

Putting aside concerns about the campaign structure, Gettysburg! may be the best recreation of Civil War combat (or even just combat) of any game yet released. Sure, some of the hardcore data is missing, and Firaxis chose to eliminate supply issues, but it's amazing how realistic this game feels much of the time.

Manages to do what many similar takes on the great conflict have failed to do -- take the events of the battle and present them with epic grandeur yet keep them simple to play without getting bogged down with too many rules.

The simple and brutal nature of Civil War combat is captured in the action that unfolds and forces players to rely on strategy and the sheer will of his units, and not high-tech weapons of devastating power.
