Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Critic Reviews

While Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a total departure in every way from what Konami proper had started, it manages to reinvigorate the series. This "re-imagining" could have been a story rehash, instead we get a brilliantly deep game with subtle subtext and surprising symbolism.

Shattered Memories is in some ways a true return to form for the series, although with recent news of Akira Yamaoka—whose music and vision has consistently defined the series—leaving Konami, it may be the last true Silent Hill game, period.

If you like survival horror games and you have a Wii, buy this immediately. Buy a second copy in case the first one wears out. If you don't have a Wii, hire one to play this. It's that good. Just don't play it alone - it's that good.

If you ever want to create a horror game for a console gaming machine, than Silent Hill Shattered Memories should be used as your template. Not only it is an extremely well written game but the gameplay is quite sturdy on the Wii and is easily one of the better titles available at present.

Packed with inventive ideas and one engaging sequence after another, it's a spirited, poignant and unsettling game that not only delivers a long-overduereturn to form, but reinvigorates horror adventures in the process.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a masterpiece of atmosphere. Konami has reinvigorated the series with an innovative and unsettling game. A great strong visuals, a well implemented motion controls. The best survival horror on Wii, a must have experience.

Shattered Memories is actually a reinterpretation of the very first Silent Hill game. We still don't know if this is a new beginning for the series or an isolated experiment, however Climax did a great job putting together an unique atmosphere, a lot of interesting solutions and a smart use of the motion-sensitive controls. One of the best and most adult experiences on Wii so far.

There are some incredible moments encapsulated within Harry's icy journey and you will be both wowed and scared as you finally uncover the truth about his daughter's disappearance and the nightmarish goings-on in the creepy town.

It's a shame that it's so short, otherwise this is easily one of the best games on the Wii.

Exceptionally strong visuals for the platform and creative, well-implemented motion controls make for a memorable experience, as long as you're OK with running away from some of your more disturbing problems.
