Guiding a cursor around a screen, activating a scope, and taking out targets is certainly an original and enjoyable experience, but the repetition of the enemy patterns make it difficult to return to after the game has been beaten or you've had your fill of playing sniper for a day.

It’s a topnotch shooting game but hardly one that you’ll play for days on end.

Even though SS2: Dark Silhouette is an improvement on the original in just about every way, there just wasn't enough to "blow me away", as the saying goes.

Technically speaking, Silent Scope 2 isn’t much of an advance over the original Silent Scope, and in some ways it’s actually a step backwards.

It's not the deepest game ever made, but it is one of those things that you can use to get a quick fix of gaming.

It rapidly descends into an overly-linear memory test which, without the physical act of aiming or the genuinely engaging ducking mechanic of "Time Crisis," all too quickly becomes repetitive and dull.

Without the gun, Silent Scope is more of an exercise, a drill. It's decent fun, but it doesn't come close to the level of excitement of adrenaline rushes that the arcade version delivers.

If you can look past some horrendous voice acting, you might be satisfied with the music and sound effects in the game. I personally couldn’t get past the voice acting and how it hurt the plot.

A very faithful recreation of its coin-operated brethren in both its graphics and gameplay. The bad news, however, is that without the light gun, it’s just not as fun. Plain as that.

The game looks so unspectacularly similar to an N64 game at times, you’ll wonder if the PS2’s graphics chip went on vacation.

There aren't really enough features here to recommend Silent Scope 2 to anyone other than those who are maniacally obsessive about the game ...or those rich I-Link-two-big-TVs-in-the-same-room-owning-people.

Featuring a well-developed storyline and numerous exclusive modes for this home version, Silent Scope 2 falters primarily when it comes to accurately targeting your enemies.

GameSpot June 14, 2024
While the gameplay and graphics are just about identical to those of the arcade version, the lack of that big gimmicky sniper rifle makes the game downright silly.

If you absolutely loved the arcade version, don’t buy this game. You will be so disappointed that you will want to skeet shoot the disc itself.

If you have the equipment (2 USB Mice, I-Link Cable, 2 TV's and 2 PS2's) and a friend you can find some unique and worthy gameplay.

This series sucks without the sniper rifle. Sorry, end of discussion.

This is one port that went from arcade star to console dog. Heinous, dude.
