Cities of Tomorrow is both a good expansion to the core game and a perfect entry point for a newcomer.

Some parts of the future are stuck in the past, but it’s strikingly well-balanced, providing solutions for existing problems and new toys to tinker with that counteract each other nicely.

The Cities of the Future expansion doesn't solve all of the problems that plagues the original, but does make for a more challenging and playable experience.

This SimCity expansion freshens up the concept of building a metropolis, adds new buildings and solutions, but the game itself is still the same - well known and questionable mechanisms still rule, the building area is too small and some engine errors can irritate all the same. If you've been satisfied with SimCity, you should be happy with this expansion. If you want bigger and more complex changes, you won't find them here.

Cities of Tomorrow isn't a bad expansion if you're already a big fan of SimCity and are itching for new ways with which to test your city-building skills within Maxis' sandbox.

Cities of Tomorrow is without a doubt an interesting DLC, able to enrich the already tasty dish of Sim City.

Cities of Tomorrow makes SimCity a better game but, unfortunately, it still doesn't make SimCity a particularly good game. While its presentation is excellent and the act of laying out a city is alarmingly addictive, nurturing and developing that city is less compelling.

For all the ways in which aims to take SimCity into the future, it remains tethered firmly to its past. Due to the peculiarities of its simulation, Origin's temperamental connection, and ultimately its own mechanical shallowness, Cities of Tomorrow is unlikely to make converts of those already driven out of town.

A conservative expansion for a game that needed to change. The game is visually appealing, but underneath we still find problems with the GlassBox engine and the simulation.

The gorgeous sci-fi burgs in Cities of Tomorrow prove that beauty only runs skin-deep. Once you get bored with the neon-clad gimmicks of the MegaTowers and OmegaCo, you're left with pretty much the same flawed game that annoyed the city-building community last spring.

SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow is a visually appealing addition that unfortunately only runs skin-deep.

More stuff crammed into cities that are too small still makes the game frustrating despite Maxis' best effort. Only pick this up if you're a fanatic.

Enjoyable new content, but strangled by enduringly small lots and an inability to save, load and experiment.

An entertaining and functional enhancement, which, however, must build on the original game's not very stable foundations. It's more of a quantity and building diversity extension than an answer to the game's most poignant problems along with its limitations.
