It sounds stupid, and in many ways it is, but it's pulled off with so much style and flair it's impossible not to be seduced by its charms.

If you're already a bona fide Sims addict, go out and buy this pack now. It's priced as low as $17 in some places and is definitely worth the money.

Hot Date's real additions are its expanded social options and its new downtown area... does an extremely good job of making The Sims a more interesting game.

Hot Date breathes new life into a game that hasn't even come close to dying.

This isn't the full-fledged leap that you're looking for -- you'll have to wait for "Sims Online" and the inevitable "Sims 2" for that -- but it's certainly the largest step that the game has taken over the course of its life.

The real joy of this expansion rests in sowing the seeds of discontent among the residents of your Sim neighborhoods. Hot Date gives the gamer some great tools for creating angst-ridden relationships, as it introduces more than 40 new social interactions...The most worthy of the Sim expansions.

Hot Date adds an obscene amount of voyeuristic addiction to an already proven immersive experience.

Adds some needed worldly interaction into The Sims, which is a welcome addition to the game.

By incorporating not only new things to do, but new ways to do them, this add-on raises the level of the whole game, in a manner far beyond that of earlier expansions.

The time-passage rate has always been much too high in all Sims releases, but it ends up being a big detractor in this offering. Aside from that, Hot Date is another solid release in this ever-growing franchise.

It definitely adds more than the two preceding expansion packs, but it’s still a slave to the simplistic mechanics that, for many, start to get old after a few weeks of play.

With the 40 plus new social interactions you have many options when it comes to making and maintaining friends both downtown and in your neighborhood.

Certainly the best add-on to date (no pun intended).

Not only adds more stuff to the Sims canon, it improves and more importantly expands the game in subtle but far-reaching ways.

One of the best and most addictive sim-games available at present, and this expansion pack is definitely better value for your simoleans than any of the other add-ons have been.
