Chappell Roan is still a fan of The Sims 2 Double Deluxe. 'I knew all the cheat codes, so I could make everyone pregnant and everyone woohoo.'
A member of the audience asked Chappell, aka Kayleigh Amstutz, about her Sims 4 favorites during a Q&A session with fans. Roan revealed that she loves The Sims 2 and its GOTY style re-release Double Deluxe. She even cited this as an inspiration for the way she performs.
A video of the exchange was shared by the TikTok fan account allthingschappell--presumably one stop shopping for all things Chappell Roan in vertical video format--but the video seems to have been originally uploaded by the inimitable djpusskyat26. Roan was asked by someone in the audience what her "go to Sims 4 storyline is" and she replied "Oh girl, Sims 2 Double Deluxe." I'm not Sims 4."

Roan remembered, "I knew all the cheat codes. So I would make everyone woohoo and pregnant. I would make everyone have twin alien babies, and I was a weirdo and was just trying make people naked. But I couldn't locate it. "I was just trying to make everybody naked."
I think this touches on an experience that is pretty universal for millennials and Gen Z: secretly exploring sex in videogames, being confused by non-existent Tomb Raider cheat codes or being ensorcelled with spurious reports of unblurred 'woohoo' scenes in The Sims. We've all experienced it. I can imagine that kids today are playing Roblox games with creepypasta themes or Discord servers featuring Peter Griffin. This makes my generation's obsessions seem quaint.
Roan continued on a more serious note by expressing her thoughts about the impact The Sims 2 has had on her creativity: "I was really really involved with Sims 2." I still feel as if I'm playing Sims with Chappell. I'm Kayleigh, and I'm wearing my purse.
Roan has discussed in the past how she adopts an entirely different character when performing. A drag queen persona that is separate from her normal self. "For Chappell it's a Sims-like character. I can dress her and put her into a world. I think I was practicing [with the] Sims." Roan concluded with another story of Sims chaos, before lamenting the fact that she no longer has her game or saves. The Sims 2 is no longer available digitally.
Roan said, "I liked to make my Sims cheat on eachother--something that I don't do." "I wish it was still there, my Sims 2."
