The Sims 4 Life and Death expansion does indeed add the Grim Reaper career that everyone wanted

The Sims 4 season of "To Be Continued" continues with a reveal trailer revealing the upcoming Life and Death extension pack. The pack is less about death and life than it is about death and life following death. It focuses on funerals and bucket lists and offers many options for life after death.

The Life and Death blog doesn't reveal everything, but it does give a good overview of the game's features. For starters, there's a brand new world called Ravenwood that has three distinct neighborhoods. Sims can create a bucket-list of goals, and depending on how many are completed, they will either be reborn as a ghost or reborn with unfinished business. They can plan for death as well by creating a last will and testament, naming the inheritors of heirlooms and guardians to their dependents. You can also host a "grieving ceremony" that is customizable. Those still alive can work as the Grim Reaper’s assistant or undertaker.

It seems that ghosts have a lot of different gameplay. EA says that ghosts can spend their afterlife terrorizing or helping the living. "Ghosts' abilities will increase as they assist with household chores, levitate living Sims, and hang them upside down. (fun AND lucrative - they might drop Simoleons !)."

It almost sounds as if ghosts will be their own occult category. I'm still betting it could mean that we'll be making ghost sims in Create A Sim from scratch, but the reveal article doesn't quite state that. Instead, it says that "As Sims adapt to their playable Ghost Sims forms, they can customize their appearance in CAS."

Funeral events are the number one concern I hear from other players. Life and Death is a completely different milestone from weddings, and it's understandable that players are concerned about how the game will handle this new life event.

As per usual, we can expect Maxis will do a livestream to demonstrate everything else in the extension later this month. Life and Death will launch on October 31.
