Whether you're a die-hard Spidey fan or just looking for the next great action-fighting game, Edge of Time excels in every aspect of game design with solid combat, fun navigational puzzles, and one of the best cinematic presentations of any Spider-Man game to date.

The story is tight and fast-paced; the presentation really shows Beenox's improvements over the past few months; and the gameplay is engaging, even if there's not much actual web-slinging to do this time around.

Even though the challenge of the game has not matured, it is ideal for anyone looking for a great Spider-Man experience.

Much like Shattered Dimensions, Spider-Man: Edge of Time features some sharp looking visuals, solid voice work, nicely presented cinematic cut scenes, and core gameplay that works well in short bursts.

In Spider-Man: Edge of Time, I feel like a clipped bird, just wanting to fly a little further and you do get the feeling that you are stuck in a huge cage which is more maze like. The gameplay is sturdy but I yearned for that open world experience of the previous Spidey games which did not limit where I could go or explore.

Enjoyable but ultimately shallow Spidey game that feels like a missed opportunity.

While Spider-Man: Edge of Time delivers a slightly better experience than Activision's other similar licensed games this year, it still falls a bit short of the expectations set by last year's Shattered Dimensions.

An above-average brawler/platformer, held back by issues with repetition and missed potential, and a severe lack of J Jonah Jameson.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is hardly flawless and really could have used more development time to turn a decent game (with an excellent design base) into a great one. It goes back to what 3-D Spider-Man games were like before Spider-Man 2 mandated atmosphere over interactivity, and it comes out a better game than it has any right to be given its abysmal production values. Instead of once again showing you what it feels like to have Spider-Man's responsibilities, Edge of Time goes back to inviting you to feel what it's like to be as powerful as him.

It's a capable superhero action game that demonstrates that the team is getting better at crafting a Spider-Man game, but like most comic-licensed properties there is still room for improvement.

Edge of Time is a major step back from the formula that worked.

The combat sequences feel like afterthoughts and the story is ultimately a bore, boasting no memorable bosses or a reason to be told other than to bring the two Spideys together...sorta.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is an interesting game... initially. After having played a few missions, you'll get bored with the environments. Spider-Man doesn't have any freedom in Edge of Time, making the entire experience feel just, well, wrong.

Edge of Times has a strong sense of humor and good pacing. It's too bad the controls are lacking and the sense of freedom has been taken away.

Unfortunately, while Spider-Man: Edge of Time does a few things really well, it does more things wrong than it does right.

If we're talking super heroes and you love Spider-Man or are looking for at least a decent super hero game, you could do a lot worse than this…but that isn't saying much for the genre.

Don't skip this new Spider-Man game, but just be aware that it's a few strands short of a full web.

For the devoted, Edge of Time is a nice rental with a weekend of passable web-slinging, but we hope, for Peter Parker's sake, that this one marks the end of the character's downward trend.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time tells an enjoyably absurd time-hopping tale, but stepping into the tights of its two heroes doesn't feel as empowering as it should.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a great game for Spider-Man fans, but if it had varied locales and more engaging combat, it would be a masterpiece. Nevertheless, it paints a very nice picture for the future of Spider-Man games.
