Squids Odyssey takes a simple concept and crafts an engaging yet not stifling amount of challenge out of it, resulting in a nice balance of haphazard fun and strategic thought.

In terms of Nintendo eShop titles, you won’t find many others that offer the long hours of gameplay that Squids Odyssey provides.

For those looking for something that is unlike anything else on the market, Squids Odyssey fits the bill almost perfectly.

How these french bakers succeeded to create a good mix between an epic story, billiards, squids and rpg games, it's still a mystery. Anyway, they did it. This is one of the best indie games on Wii U e-shop.

Its difficulty curve may frustrate younger gamers, but Squids Odyssey is a fun and unique, turn-based action game that's worth spending a few squids on.

A great mix of strategy and Angry Bird-ish gameplay, that is very fun and surprisingly deep.

The game will clearly appeal more to casual gamers than to the hardcore, but it does show how the Wii U can deliver interesting games when the developers try to introduce some innovation.

Squids Odyssey is a fun, addictive and extremely challenging turn-based RPG with an action twist. Its difficulty level can prove merciless for those less willing to invest their time and energy, but the rewards are more than welcome in this well-designed and well-crafted piece of work.

As it stands, initial appeal wears thin rather quickly, and like real squid, the whole thing starts to stink after being flung around for too long.

Squids Odyssey is very lengthy and may get repetitive, but for the times in between games or while watching TV it is the perfect fit.

With Squids Odyssey, Nintendo earns a sort of Angry Birds with a RPG taste, adding an arrow to the bow of its eShop. While the game is not perfect. you won't find anything similar on the other next gen consoles.

The basic gameplay concept is fine, and it works as a way to pass time in short bursts. It seems like it could work better if it were a pure skill game rather than the hybrid it is, and it surely would work better on mobile or handheld.

The Game Bakers, the developer of Squids Odyssey, has created a game that largely misses everything that makes the RPG genre great. As such, it quickly becomes tedious, and while I do think it would work as a free iOS game as a time waster, it doesn't work as a sit down experience on a home console.
