Squids Wild West takes what felt like a fun, but otherwise short turn-based title and polishes it in to a far more rounded-out experience; it's Squids as it should have been, but we don't mind the wait!

This game could sell for $35 on the 3DS and it wouldn't be out of place next to the other pieces of software available for the system.

The developers at The Game Bakers already proved they could make a great game with Squids last year, and now with Squids Wild West they have turned it into one of the deepest and most enjoyable franchises on iOS.

It is unbelievable that a game this complex costs only $0.99. It is worth at least three times that much. If you like adventure games mixed with arcade games, then you won't want to miss this.

For a ridiculous price, Squids Wild West features an interesting story, great amounts of content and a brilliant strategic-action-rpg hybrid gameplay. Definitely one to pick up.

Squids Wild West may not be a game for those who are hardcore turn-based strategy fans, as the amount of entropy involved in the game does derail some of the careful planning. But for the Angry Birds set looking to get in to a new type of game, Squids Wild West is a fun introduction.

They did such an excellent job imbuing the heroes with personality while creating a gorgeous world for them to explore, pulling art from the Old West and merging it with cool undersea scenery; everything has a nice summery feel. Even the title screen that features parallax scrolling is cool. A nice touch, indeed.

Squids Wild West isn't fundamentally different from its predecessor, but it's a great follow-up. It's also an excellent chapter in the story of Squids, one with dramatic tension, clever dialogue and all those kinds of good things.

Dropping a dollar or two on this title is an absolute no-brainer-and while you're at it, and pick up the original at the same time. On the iPhone, they rarely come better than this.

Squids Wild West doesn't have the element of surprise of its predecessor, nor even a deep revolution in its concept. But its highly-polished world and its accessible yet enticing gameplay make it a must-have for this platform.

Every bit as enjoyable as its predecessor, Squids Wild West is a cleverly designed tactical RPG that anyone can play.

This entry of the humorous and charming Squids series improves on the gameplay without making any major changes, while its plot takes on a surprisingly emotional and serious tone.
