Star Wars: Battlefront (2004) Critic Reviews

Game-play for Star Wars: Battlefront, although not quite as polished as I’d like to see it, is a gaming experience that is rivaled by few in its genre, especially when it comes to Xbox Live. There is just so much to do in this game, it’s hard to know where to start.

Great game, worth every penny. If you like massive battles, star wars, first person shooters or vehicles, you will definitely want to check this game out.

To say the least, this was an exhilarating feeling. Even with its slow, lumbering bulk, it was truly satisfying to pilot my favorite of all childhood sci-fi vehicles.

I just wish there were a melee attack so I could finally bludgeon an Ewok to death with the butt of my blaster.

Battlefront works because it's not an overly complex game. Within the confines of a FPS, you won't have to learn a lot of button combos and other complex configuration.

World-class Star Wars games are like Endor buses: you wait light-years for one and then two turn up within 12 months of each other. Do the galaxy a favour: buy it now.

The fluid movement of each class is wonderful including the rag doll effect when they have been shot, trampled over or blown up.

Despite some of its flaws Star Wars: Battlefront delivers what it promises – massive Star Wars engagements that drop you right into the films.

A must have for fans of the films and a great multiplayer game for shooter fans as well. Battlefront does suffer a few design flaws that include a weak single-player section, poor AI at times, and a lack of an underlying continuity between battles.

While it offers these amazing spectacles, thrilling battles, and remains a great account of what Star Wars battles must have felt like, there simply isn't enough content to keep the game going for months or years after its release.

The Star Wars game that will have fans in absolute rapture because the presentation and authenticity is totally flawless. Forget technical prowess or ground-breaking gameplay (although Battlefront is by no means ordinary in this department), this game has been built from the ground up by fans, for fans.

For fans of shooter games in general, Battlefront is a chance to apply some military strategy to epic scale intergalactic combat. And for Star Wars fans, the game finally gives them a chance to experience firsthand some of the best battles in the Star Wars saga.

A fantastic game, the more I play, and the more I like it. Sure there is no real single player, but the online game makes up for it.

Although it isn't without some problems, Battlefront is easily one of the most fully realized, enjoyable Star Wars games we've ever played.

Yes, it may not be the nicest looking game, it may have some problems with lag over Xbox Live but one thing it does offer is the competence to give players an experience that no other game over live can offer a player.

In all fairness this sort of game has been done before, and to a higher quality, but if you have even a passing interest in Star Wars then the real beauty of this title stems from the brilliant way in which it has tapped into the franchise.

A blast for Star Wars aficionados and a solid experience for regular gamers, but it should be considered something of a work in progress, and future patches can do much to alleviate its short comings.

It's a truly beautiful game, too, spanning from the lush forest of Ewok-infested Endor the to the Tatooine desert (complete with hostile Tusken Raiders.) And it's just plain cool to see Darth Vader walking around kicking ass.

The maps offer opportunities for strategy and the online battles are a blast.

The console versions of the game--especially the Xbox version--might seem more fresh and appealing to their respective audiences, who don't have as many choices in online team-based shooters.
