Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter Critic Reviews

An awesome package of gameplay, sound, and story to improve greatly on an already attractive package. Bravo LucasArts, bravo indeed.

This would be considered a mission-pack add on in the PC world, but for fans of the series, it's a great new game with additional elements that enhance an old, but stable, gaming engine.

The excellent reward system almost makes up for strange feeling of deja vu, and the two-player mini-games are better polished than last year, but you won't find anything terribly new in Jedi Starfighter.

The Jedi Starfighter is quick, but only has lasers. But...you can use the Force against enemy ships. Without a doubt, this is the big draw, and it's way cool.

The game gives you nothing new beyond the usual attack or defend missions but it is still just as enjoyable as the original.

This is a must have for any Star Wars fan and those who enjoy space simulators.

A blast to play, even in extended sessions thanks to a good story baseline, plenty of simple pick-up-and-play gameplay elements, and a control scheme that’s as intuitive as it is fluid.

"Rogue Leader" looked fantastic, but Jedi Starfighter outperforms it with ease.

The force has returned to the PlayStation 2, but the outcome could have been stronger.

The added force powers are handy, but they don’t dramatically change the way the game is played.

Better than the original in every way. It even manages to trump the GameCube triumph, "Rogue Leader," in at least one key way as well -- it has a cooperative play mode.

Almost as interesting as the Force powers is the skill it takes to use them effectively.

While the gameplay is still overly derivative of games like "Colony Wars" and "Wing Commander," and doesn't quite capture the "Star Wars" feel in the same way the "Rogue Squadron" games do, it's a massive step in the right direction.

A very well executed and polished rehash of a formula that is in dire need of something new or unique to take the franchise to the next level.

Two player cooperative play is a big bonus, and hopefully will set a trend in future space-fighter games.

The missions are clear-cut and better structured than "Rogue Leader"'s, and thanks to plenty of topographic embience - drop dead gorgeous to behold.

Technically Jedi Starfighter is Starfighter’s recently paroled big brother, of the same gene pool yet just a little cooler.

Aside from the shoddy graphics and the occasional twitch, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter will manage to draw you right in with its engaging storyline, solid controls and plenty of extras (you got to love a game that offers a gag reel).

While plenty good can be said about Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, the often-bland visuals, sketchy frame rate, and somewhat frustrating targeting control ultimately hold Jedi Starfighter back from being a great game.

Enemy A.I. here might as well stand for "Artificial Idiocy."
