Stardew Valley's creator Eric Barone was always aiming for music: 'I have always dreamed that people would appreciate my music.'

Festival of Seasons is Stardew Valley’s international concert tour. Tickets quickly sold out. The Chicago show was reported to have sold out in under two minutes. Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone reflected on the success of the tour and specifically the New York performance.

"It feels really good, because music was always my primary thing before I ever thought of being a possible game developer." Barone said in a behind the scenes interview with NYC Town Hall via GamesRadar that he wanted to be a music. "Music has always meant a lot to me. I've always hoped that people would appreciate my music. "It's like a dream come true to see people so excited to hear the music. This tour, being here and seeing people who are so enthusiastic to listen to it is really satisfying to us.

We all know Stardew Valley was heavily inspired by Harvest Moon. Barone also made the soundtrack to emulate classic RPGs. "I wanted to create a soundtrack that was evocative to those classic Super Nintendo RPGs and PlayStation 1 RPGs."

Barone has made jokes about the lengths he went to get people to listen his music. "Growing-up, I always wanted be a composer but no one wanted to listen my music. After many years of trying and failing, I finally figured out the secret. "I had to create an entire videogame from scratch and then you could finally hear my music."

It's a pretty extreme way to achieve your dreams, but the end result is great. Stardew Valley is a great game, but there's now another way to enjoy the music. Barone says that he is happy to bring the music to as many people, whether it's through the game or concert tours.

No matter how difficult the task may seem, the Festival of Seasons proves that there is a way to achieve anything. Barone had to create a whole game to showcase his music, and he did so without formal musical training. Barone says, "I've been playing [music] for years but never learned anything." "I don’t know how to read music theory or notation. I just play by feeling."
