Super Lucky's Tale on Xbox One doesn't do anything new, but what it puts on the table, it does well. It is attractive for the little ones in the house, but also for adults who want to remember the good times of the 3D platforms.

Almost every moment of Super Lucky's Tale allows for the pure joy of platforming when you aren't annoyed by the limited camera design. It's worth noting that the main game is extremely short to beat, but there are enough optional levels, puzzles and collectables to complete that will easily double or even triple your time with it.

Despite some dubious gameplay design (failed mini-games can’t be replayed without restarting the whole sub-level) and problems with the fixed-camera position sometimes obscuring jumps, Super Lucky’s Tale is a solid platformer. It honors the tried and true genre clichés and for a mid-priced game, it doesn’t even need to present anything entirely new.

If you're not in a good mood then you should really try out Super Lucky's Tale. The Xbox exclusive looks gorgeous on the Xbox One X and the smile on the fox Lucky is contagious. It doesn't matter how old you are, Super Lucky's Tale is a game for everyone.

The biggest flaw is that it fails to leave a major impression despite getting most things right on a point-by-point basis. It controls well outside of some camera issues and looks gorgeous. The sound design is impressive, while the soundtrack leaves a bit to be desired. The overall game isn’t a classic, but everything is done well and there isn’t much outright wrong with it.

Considering Microsoft’s focus on Racing and Shooter genres for its exclusive lineup, Super Lucky’s Tale feels like an exciting and different platforming experience that will take players back to 6th and 7th generation of consoles again, and even with some camera and gameplay issues, Super Lucky’s Tale is still a welcomed addition to Microsoft’s lineup.

Super Lucky’s Tale is the first platformer on the Xbox One X that gives players an honest arcade experience with a fun protagonist, decent mechanics and truly impressive 4K graphics.

A complete and joyful platformer, recommended for the little ones or those who expect classic playability. Its lack of ideas and several technical constraints hamper its success.

3D platformer with an oldschool vibe, but lacking challenge and variety.

3D platformers don't get much more generic than Super Lucky's Tale. That being said, if you're looking to go on a relaxing adventure in an adorable world then you'll find a solid and ultimately enjoyable platformer here.

Super Lucky's Tale is a very enjoyable game. It's very easy for long-time fans of the genre, but if you're looking for light-hearted platforming adventure, it's a good choice.

Super Lucky’s Tale is a 3D platforming game, priced at $39, that is indeed made for the family to enjoy. That being said, it sticks to the tried and true nature, and gameplay style, of what make platform games what they are. If there is one area to complain about, it is the in-game camera, which can cause more than a few untimely deaths at the worst times. Super Lucky’s Tale doesn’t do anything to make it stand out, but it is not a bad game and one that does deserve a look if you want to play something different on your Xbox One this year.

Maybe a bit too generic and mannerist, but Super Lucky's Tale has also some good platforming contents around its tail.

Critical Hit November 21, 2017
All ages gameplay, a colourful world to explore and a platforming mascot who has some potential to join the legends of the genre in the years to come. Super Lucky’s Tale won’t push your skills too far when it comes to its imaginative level design, but it’ll still be a cathartic way to wrap up the year thanks to its nostalgic focus on the past.

A tightly-designed, child-friendly, cute platform game that will challenge adults too.

If you're looking for a game you can pick up and play, as well as make you smile, this is certainly one to consider.

Super Lucky’s Tale is a charming and sweet indie platformer that provides hours of retro platforming joy. It’s probably had far too much weight put upon its shoulders as the Xbox One X’s sole launch title, and is by no means perfect; a fact that's been amplified by the recent antics of a dungaree-wearing plumber. However, while the genre has undoubtedly moved on, taken on its own merit Super Lucky’s Tale is simple, inescapable fun.

Super Lucky’s Tale is by no means bad — it’s simply good; fun, but easily forgettable. If it was released at a different time than Odyssey, it may have made more of an impression, but alas, here we are.

If stripping VR is what Playful Corp needs to do to reach a bigger audience so be it, but a version with optional VR would have been ideal.

Super Lucky's Tale is the child-pleaser we've been looking for in the Xbox One catalogue. An honest and modest title that never forgets that easy doesn't mean simple.
