Sydney 2000 Critic Reviews

The graphical quality of this program makes it a sure-fire winner. What it lacks in some areas, it makes up for in others. If you are a fan of Olympic-style action, this is a must-have.

With the swimming graphics engine in particular being superbly done, I would have liked for more events based around this.

The thrill of victory is fun for a while, but the agony of repetition wears away the Fun Factor.

ITF is still a better game.

All about mashing buttons faster and more accurately than anyone else. The only guarantee is fatigued and sore, cramped, arthritic fingers; well, that and Olympic Glory.

Unfortunately, what could have been a great game ultimately falls to the level of mediocrity due to a poor and monotonous control system and lack of Internet play.

I actually didn't mind the simple arcade style gameplay because it was reminiscent of "Summer Games," a game I played often in my youth on a system that I adored.

The impressive variety of events is seemingly erased due to the ancient control system that relegates all the events to simple button mashing experiences.

Well, there's always the 2004 edition to look forward to.

Most likely a title only true fans of the Olympic games will appreciate since the actual act of playing the game requires some dedication as well as some tough thumbs.

It's a curio--something to buy if you find yourself overcome with Olympic fever; just bear in mind that it'll be in the bargain bin in just a couple of weeks.

The problem is the gameplay. It's repetitive, it gets old quickly, it's redundant, it drones on and on, it's monotonous, it's unvaried and it's iterative.

The repetitive style of gameplay is a big disappointment.

With total presentation so lackluster, it's just disappointing overall.

Sydney 2000 can't even compete against the equivalent Commodore 64 game that's well over a decade old.

The graphics are the one high point of this downhill slalom, they are neither innovative nor gorgeous enough to save this title from the abysmal control scheme and furious key tapping required to stay afloat in most of the events.

Ouch.

If you consider yourself even a casual gamer, don't be enticed by the pretty box: tap the buttons in your mind and run far, far away.

Should have stayed where it belonged-on the consoles. This is not a PC game. There is no mouse support whatsoever
