Tekken 8's big baddie is tempted to buy some designer sunglasses and suddenly $500 seems a fair price.

Bandai Namco is putting Tekken 8 on everything right now. There are the jean jackets, the skateboards, the horribly ugly $250 Nike Airs and the Uniqlo tees. Then there's the PUBG collaboration with DJ Max, which is actually quite good, and now... designer shades.

The fighting game has teamed up with luxury eyewear company Gentle Monster to provide some blazing hot protection for your eyes. I must admit, they are pretty sicko in a sicko kind of way. The red mirror lenses have chrome flames around them and the arms are inspired by Kazuya's horns in his devil-like form. They are packaged in a fist with Kazuya Mishima's signature red studded gloves and a Tekken 8 branded sack. All for the low price $500 / PS410.

The marketing is my favourite part of all this. In a few advertisements, there are real-life models wearing the sunglasses. Bandai also released a couple of animated videos of Kazuya wearing sunglasses and doing manly things such as crushing whiskey glasses with lightning flashing and heavy metal ripping in the background. His shirt is also wide open. Kazuya then takes some hilarious fuckboy-like photos of himself in the mirror, shirtless once more. He then switches to his devil-like form... and takes more fuckboy shots.

It's funny to me that one of the main villains of the game is paraded around shirtless, like a sexy model. I suppose it fits into his personality a little bit--I feel that gaudy shades are the natural progression of being a sneakerhead. Kazuya is a thing like that.

I also think stupid and sexy Kazuya is working on me. I would be tempted to buy Gentle Monster sunglasses if I were more financially irresponsible. They have that wraparound goggle style that's very early 2000s, but still leaning towards that cool Matrix gothy feel. Could I pull them off? No, but I enjoy living in my deluded mind where I believe I can.

The sunglasses will not be available in real life but they will be included as a free item for customisation starting October 1. This way, I can save $500 by using them on Claudio Serafino. He is undoubtedly cooler than me.
