With Tekken Revolution the Tekken saga approaches Free to Play model in the best way.

Tekken Revolution won't inspire people to toss out their old Tekken copies and embrace this wholeheartedly. Unless you exclusively play online, you'll miss out on the offline features and local multiplayer that make fighting games so much fun.

It’s just like being back in the arcades (with lots of Japanese kids kicking your arse).

A good experiment, that lacks content. With its more accessible gameplay, and some intelligent changes to the system, it may become a success in the future.

One of the best ways to offer a free to play game, without harassing the gamer asking money and money to be competitive. The RPG elements are interesting and offer a new way to live the Tekken experience, but maybe series' old fans are not inclined to accept them.

The simplified gameplay mechanics and additional balancing ideas should provide a more level playing field to start off on. Longtime series fans, however, are likely to be left cold by this stripped-down title, which eschews the combo-juggling they are used to.

Tekken Revolution is more experimental than Combot, but solid execution on some admittedly controversial ideas ensure that this free-to-play fighter is worth a bash. Franchise fans will feel more frustrated than Devil Jin upon witnessing the watered down gameplay mechanics, but casual combatants may find themselves lured back into the wacky world of the King of Iron Fist Tournament on the back of the digital download’s inherent accessibility and free entry fee.

This free-to-play version of Tekken is a very good deal on the PSN. Of course it is free... but it also features beautiful graphics, more accessible gameplay and a lot of online gamers available to compete with.

There's plenty to play with here, but you'll have to pay to win online.

The revolution of Tekken is real, but not necessary. Tekken Revolution appears like the poor version of a great brand. In this case, the free price was the only right price.

The business model in Tekken Revolution makes a great game only decent.

In its shrewd monetisation aspects and as a watered-down but sturdy entry in the series, Revolution unarguably achieves its goal. The King Of Iron Fist Tournament is now closer than it’s been for a long time to its arcade roots, but the sense of friendly competition has been replaced with an initially hostile, rich versus poor and, at times, pay-to-win atmosphere.
