It crosses demographic and gaming boundaries as easily as Guy Dangerous hops over dangling footbridges. An excellent sequel.

Temple Run 2 is a firecracker of a game that every iOS gamer should download.

Its mechanics are still pristine. Its controls are still pretty much immaculate. The formula has been tweaked, and I think it has come out for the better. It's evolution, not revolution, but it's still Temple Run and it's sitll a lot of fun.

If you weren't a huge fan of the first Temple Run then I doubt the sequel will drastically change your mind.

Maintains everything that made the original great, while enhancing the rest to provide an even more engaging, and thrilling run.

Everything has been improved and refined, in app purchases are non-intrusive, the graphic restyling is convincing and the syndrome of "I still do a run and then I stop" strikes again.

It brings the original formula one step closer to perfection, improving its visuals and gameplay. There's nothing extremely special under the new version, but it's free and still fun, so there's no reason to stick to the previous one.

Temple Run 2 is as simple, fast and enjoyable as the first episode, but the lack of something really new is disappointing.

If you were to pit Temple Run, Temple Run Brave and Temple Run 2 against each other, Temple Run 2 would definitely come out on top – but the play-it-safe improvements don't really do enough to make Temple Run 2 stand out in a sea of games inspired by the original. If anything, the content we're seeing here would have made an admirable update to the original Temple Run. But as a standalone release? Temple Run 2 just doesn't do enough to distinguish itself from its predecessor.

While Temple Run 2 is a quality product, it falls short of being groundbreaking.

It was only a matter of time before Temple Run's explosion in popularity resulted in a new title - Temple Run 2 makes enough steps forward to justify the new number, but it's hard to shake the feeling that Imangi are resting on their laurels a little too much.

Edge Magazine January 22, 2013
Temple Run 2 is a beautiful looking, natural extension of the series that never breaks stride for a second. The game's only liability is that, as beautiful as its environments may be, their unceasing repetition can eventually grow wearisome. Like a child hearing about the concept of living in heaven for eternity and asking, won't I get bored?

Familiar framework aside, Temple Run 2's notable upgrades and thrilling pursuits make it one of the most entertaining free-to-play options around.

It boasts upgraded visuals and new mine cart bits, but it doesn't break any new ground.

GamesBeat January 18, 2013
For the sequel to one of the most successful mobile games in recent memory, the developers of Temple Run 2 took a safe approach: more of the same. Sure, it has better graphics and a new power-up system, but at its core, it's a lot like the original.

Less a breath of fresh air, more a blast of air conditioning, Temple Run 2 adds little to the endless-runner genre, though it is fun. It's just not the shot in the arm some of us were hoping for.

Metro GameCentral January 18, 2013
Whether it justifies all 170 million of its downloads is open to question but there's no denying this sequel is prettier and even more addictive than the original.

Gamereactor Denmark January 21, 2013
Aside from the improved graphics and the addition of minecarts, there's not much here that's actually new. Other endless runners have raised the bar for what we expect from this genre. Still, even though Temple Run is no longer the king, it's still a fun game.

Eurogamer January 22, 2013
The biggest flaw Temple Run 2 betrays is its conservatism. The amount of work that has gone into the game is evident, and it's hard to fault an accessible, thrilling game that offers itself to you for free - but it's so similar to its predecessor that it ultimately feels a bit unnecessary.

Temple Run 2 is a good endless runner game, better in some ways than the original, and in other ways worse.
