Looking at it as a conventional game, in other words, it's not terribly impressive – short, simple and perfectly linear. But as an interactive story, or perhaps more accurately a poem, it is superb.

Tengami is an absolute masterpiece of game development that is an immersive experience that is not to be missed making it a must buy.

A game so enchanting you’ll curse the fact it has to end. I thought the best way to sum up Tengami is via a haiku poem: Journey through paper; Origami zen garden; A brief distraction.

Backed with some solid gameplay, I think Tengami more than proves itself worthy of a place in the adventure fan's library.

The journey is captivating but it's over all too soon, and for all its beauty the game's world feels empty without other characters to speak to.

It’s a beautiful, original concept that falls just shy of something special.

A gorgeous iOS game to look at granted with an outstanding art direction. Its gameplay is not as good and sophisticated, though.

Tengami is a beautiful, mysterious adventure game, even if it's a little annoying to play at times.

A gorgeous, engrossing experience, but it's too straightforward, too brief, and too slow to be an essential adventure.

If you can stand the slow pace and suffer through a few unfair puzzles, you’ll find Tengami’s breathtaking visual beauty and slick interface more than make up for any shortcomings.

Tengami is a serene, wondrous experience that can enchant anyone of all ages. As an interactive experience it works perfectly, but gameplay wise it doesn't deliver the same quality.

Tengami is ridiculously beautiful, but its gorgeous looks only go so far.

Tengami’s world is as rich and stimulating as any you’re likely to find on iOS, but there’s something missing. Like an origami crane, it’s an admirable piece of craftsmanship, but the result remains rather flimsy and lightweight.

Rigid in spots and light on impact, Tengami still feels like the ideal kind of App Store curio: it’s short, sweet, intimate, and handcrafted, with dreamy environs and meditative, low-key puzzles.

There are moments of brilliance in Tengami, both in its wonderful origami visuals and some clever paper folding puzzles. But the plodding and confusion between those moments of brilliance undermine its splendour and the meditative tone the game tries to achieve.

I wanted more: more depth, more interaction, more complexity; a hero's journey with more at stake than flowers.

Shallow but with an incredible exterior. Get it for the views.

A game for players who value gorgeous visuals above all else.

At its best, Tengami is something you want to freeze-frame and hang on the wall. For a video game, that shouldn't be taken as a compliment.
