Terraria's dev team won't be under pressure to release its next major update before the end the year. 'I'm sorry this one took so long, but it'll be worth it.'
The survival game, which refuses to stop, has pushed its next major update a little further back. Terraria 1.4.5 is a project that has been in the making for more than two years. In a recent State of the Game Update, Re-Logic stated that it was almost finished, but wouldn't be released until 2024.
"The final lists are nearing completion for each member of the dev team, which is an excellent measure of progress." We are certain that Terraria 1.4.5 will not be released this year, Ted "Loki Murphy" of Re-Logic wrote.
The short version is that the final touches to the patch are taking much longer than expected. Instead of asking the team for a "arbitrary deadline" around the holidays, the studio has decided to release 1.4.5 in 2025 when it's finished.
Murphy added, "We know that this news will not be welcomed by many, but we are committed to being a studio that puts quality first. We will take the necessary time to make each update feel 'just right '..., and we believe that everyone will appreciate the time and care that we took to make the update. "I apologize for this one taking so much time, but I think it will be worth it."
Terraria players are patient, but this update has taken a long time to arrive. Re-Logic announced the update in 2022 and the team believed it would be released in 2023.
I suppose that when you create a hugely successful indie game, with a vibrant community and a healthy modding scene, nobody really cares if official updates take longer than planned. Stardew Valley is in a similar situation. This is especially true for Terraria's long-time players, who must think they're playing on house money. It's been four years since Re-Logic's "final" major update. But the game still sells so well, the studio has continued to work.
Re-Logic did not leave its fans empty-handed, however: A gif embedded in the blog post reveals you can plant trees in 1.4.5 by throwing acorns. Neat.
