NBA Street Homecourt set the next-gen standard for arcade sports games. The Bigs is just as fun, at least. It amps up all baseball's best bits in a hurried, joyous affair.

In the end, though, 2K made the right move to give casual fans a baseball game they can easily pick up and play with their friends.

The cocky presentation is fantastic, it looks great (especially the crowds), it plays great, and it just might make you smarter than a session of Brain Age. The Bigs isn't just an absolute hoot -- it's also the best current-gen baseball game money can buy.

This game rocks, and should be picked up by sports fans, and baseball fans alike. It has just enough realism to keep the hardcore baseball fans entertained, but just enough arcadeness to keep us people that think baseball is boring coming back for more.

Although the fielding needs some work, the hitting and pitching mechanics are excellent, as are the “big play” moments.

There might not be a Season or Franchise mode, but the arcade style of The Bigs is an extremely fun way to play a quick game or two of baseball. Extremely accessible and engaging, The Bigs captures the excitement of the big time plays that dominate baseball highlights perfectly.

Even with touchy fielding and no stat tracking, the BIGS is the best baseball game in years.

Still, I love how The Bigs has the bells and whistles without the SlugFest-style BS like punch-throwing or loop-de-loop curves.

The controls were simple enough, the single-player kept me busy for long enough, and the amazing multi-player/mini-games were a sweet bonus to an already good game. Rounded off with good graphics as a whole and a decent soundtrack The BIGS turned out to be one hell of a fun game that quickly moved towards the top of my list for sports games out in stores right now.

Big strikeouts and even bigger homers make The BIGS a great arcade baseball game.

With a fun Career Mode, online play and an incredibly addictive mini game (Homerun Pinball) round out this enjoyable package that, although it cannot compete against the much deeper MLB 2K franchise, deserves some playtime, if for nothing else than to rob someone of a game winning grand slam.

For fans of the MLB game and Xbox 360 owners this is a must buy.

It’s the little fun touches that end up elevating The Bigs from being just another yearly baseball installment.

With its sense of humor and over the top plays, The BIGS proves to be a baseball game that is accessible to just about everybody. If you're sick of learning complex controls and memorizing player stats, then The BIGS has been made specifically for you.

A baseball video game that will appeal to many casual gamers as well as hardcore baseball guys.

It's a little thin on game modes, but the career mode is a kick, as is going head-to-head against a buddy or two. There are far worse ways to spend your summer.

Overall, The Bigs is a well executed attempt at your unconventional take on the baseball video game market.

The Bigs puts tons of great ideas to life to give players a much more fast-paced and turbo induced game of baseball that everyone will surely enjoy. While the fielding and base running could have used a little more fine tuning, the overall package is fun enough for all fans to enjoy a game of baseball without having to labor through hours of gameplay.

The BIGS is a triumphant return to arcade baseball on next-gen consoles, with multiple addictive modes. The gameplay still needs tuning, something we hope to see in next year's version.
