The Hustle: Detroit Streets Critic Reviews

The Hustle had such an opportunity to finally bring something fresh to the sports genre, especially for pool, something to sink your teeth into, really get involved in. However, as is usually the case, developers seem to cock up, make hideous technical errors and destroy whatever amazing concept for the game that they first had. Waiting through horrendous loading times to play what seems to be a choppy, half-arsed experience is not worth the wait.

A valiant attempt at bringing a quality pool game to the PSP, but between the load times and the clunky shot procedures most of the fun is quickly sapped out of this title.

The Hustle gets overly cute with its story mode, and the pacing is achingly slow, but the pool itself can be fairly fun.

The character models looked pretty good, and really helped add to the "streety" tone that the game was going for. Unfortunately, technical issues got in the way, and for handheld gaming, load times are critical. Pool itself isn't a lightning-fast game, but it's really no fun staring at a virtual table while cut scenes load.

I found the game's controls to be unfriendly and unnecessary. I asked myself a couple of times if this should be this difficult. My answer was "no" everytime.

It may be slightly too slow and easy for some, but it still has more than enough variety to keep most fans happy.

A game that simply doesn't feel right on the PSP. It's slow (and even slower when played wirelessly with a friend), lacks a quick play mode, and has an uninspired story mode.

The game is slow-moving and badly lacks atmosphere.

The Hustle might aim to be an affordable budget diversion, but even a bargain price can't make this deeply flawed game worth buying.

Given that there are flash games that do pool just as well, the loading times are unforgivable - much like the rest of this horror show.

I'd rather play the Java-based pool game on Yahoo.
