The Inquisitor is a grim yet strangely gripping dark fantasy story, memorable if a little rough around the edges.

When all is said and done I found that I wanted to like The Inquisitor more than I actually did. There is potential here for a brilliant game, but unfortunately, it just has not been realized here.

Atmospheric adventure game with many Witcher influences and an exciting detective story. Graphically and in terms of gameplay, however, The Inquisitor is rather weak.

The Inquisitor takes place in a fascinating, dark world, and its story often puts you in strange and interesting situations. Searching for a vampire and trying to solve murders in a medieval town is a great idea, and it's compelling to search a scene for clues, to try to puzzle out the best choices in conversations and interrogations, and to attempt to stitch the whole thing together. But it doesn't pay off its ambition, whether that’s because of action scenes that are never really challenging or choices that are either too opaque to see where they're taking you, or take you to the same destination regardless of what you pick. The Inquisitor is always holding your hand too tightly as it points you at clues and destinations, and as a result, it's a detective game that does most of the detecting for you.

The Inquisitor is a very curious low-budget project with a fascinating plot. However, the developers overestimated their capabilities and budget constraints.

An action-adventure set in the medieval inquisition and with a touch of the supernatural has enough potential. It's a shame that the authors didn't use it.

Somewhere deep inside The Inquisitor has traces of great ambition - good voiceovers, motion capture during scenes of fighting, but that's not nearly enough. The finished product is a game that is not good. It's as simple as that.

The Inquisitor fumbles what could have been the premiere mystery game of 2024. Despite the strong setting and cast, the mystery rapidly unravels into nothing but noise, and the gameplay is bereft of difficulty. The never-ending stream of bugs means that whatever joy you can find in the game will most certainly be derailed.

Between the exciting religious setting, lousy technology and unintentionally weird gameplay, The Inquisitor commits the worst of all deadly sins: it's boring as hell.

Mechanically, The Inquisitor borrows from several genres but rudimentary implementation fails to make a case for engaging in clue collecting or swordfighting. Worse yet, some of its mechanics are only there waste your time. On paper, and with more work put into it, The Inquisitor could have been a decent low-budget romp through an interesting setting. Sadly, in its current form, it only succeeds as a contender for the title of worst game of the year.
