The creators of This War of Mine say that their'mission of shedding light on the civil cost of war is not over', as they announce new DLC to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Developer 11 Bit Studios announced that new DLC will be released to mark the 10 th anniversary of This War of Mine. The game simulates the horrors of war through the eyes of a civilian. Funds raised will go to multiple charities.

The new add-on Forget Celebrations will return to the fictional nation Pogoren and tell the story about Katia, an experienced war correspondent who is writing a book on her experiences with the "brutal realities of war." After a missile attack destroys her home she is forced to fight for survival while continuing her work.

11 Bit announced that Today marks the 10th Anniversary of This War of Mine. "A decade after its release, this game's mission of shedding light on the civil cost of war is still far from over."

This War of Mine, a survival-management video game, casts players as civilians caught up in a brutal war, with the only goal being to survive day to day. In our 80% review of 2014, we called it "important but unrelentingly brutal": "One of the most thematically fascinating games of the year but it's very difficult to play."

It's a commercial success despite its difficulty. It has sold more than 7 million copies, and received a "very favorable" rating from Steam users in nearly 83,000 reviews. It has also received recognition outside of the conventional videogame world: This War of Mine is now on the reading lists of high schools in Poland, and it was awarded a Special Recognition Award by Amnesty International in 2024 for its "continued relevancy in portraying harsh realities faced by civilians in conflict zones."

11 Bit Studios has supported the game over the years with DLC and updates, and raised a significant amount of funds for various charities. This includes $550,000 for War Child and $850,000 for Ukrainian Red Cross by November 2022. This effort will continue with Forget Celebrations. "All studio profits" raised by the DLC will be donated to War Child Amnesty International Liberty Ukraine and Indie Games Poland.
