What really makes the game, though, like the first, is the overall racing atmosphere.

But bottom line... If you like racing games AT ALL... you should own Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2!

Chances are you'll find Xtreme racing through Tokyo to be an experience worthy of being called this year's best Dreamcast racing game.

The game's control is dead on, and if you think it still needs a little tweaking, you can adjust the brakes and steering to your liking.

TXR 2 delivers enough improvements and additions on the original formula to keep the fans happy and give the first-timers a racing experience that lives up to today's tough standards.

It fails to fully address some of the graphical problems in the game, but it does improve the depth of this single player only title.

The result is something that comes close to being a masterpiece for its uniqueness within the racing genre and the sheer fun of its gameplay.

Given the free-flowing, non-linear nature of the game, gamers will either love the freedom to cruise around, or hate the lack of a real objective.

If you've got tons of free time to devote to racing, purchasing, and modifying scores of cars, this might be what you're looking for.

The graphics are some of the most impressive available on the console, it's certainly darn addictive and while there are a few nuisances here and there, TXR2 is a worthy purchase for racer fans.

Unfortunately,TXR2 ends up being less of a game than its predecessor, despite double the number of opponents and a vastly larger racing area.

Your mileage may vary, but this is one heck of an enjoyable game IF you're into competition more than racing, and into challenging one-player challenges than racing thrills.

To say this is the poor man’s street racing game is quite an understatement.

I really enjoy this game. It's just that too many things slow down what could have been a truly amazing experience.

And maybe in the future, you can race through more than just one road in Tokyo.

The first thing that should be done is to fix the frame rate problem. Next, throw some cops in there -- after all, I am breaking the law.
