Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm Critic Reviews

If I can only think of one weak part of the online game, it's that it's only built for 4 on 4. Other than that, this is a great game to have, and a must for any PS2 online gamer.

Every choice you make during play makes a significant difference to how the mission plays out, whether it's which weapons to use or which sandbank to take cover behind, and the only real problem is that the game seems to lack a certain spark of inspiration.

It's not perfect, and if you don't have the ability to play online, it's a little brief, but all in all, it's a very competent game.

Compared to the tight, challenging "Rainbow Six 3," which is also available on the PS2, there’s really nothing Jungle Storm can offer that you haven’t played before. At this point, the Ghost Recon series is definitely the weakest link in the Clancy chain.

The game play has been streamlined for less fussy PS2 players. Plus there’s a single-player mode, where AI teammates respond to 160 voice commands. And the online levels—with up to 16 players barking through headsets simultaneously—is enough to make you postpone your pee break for hours.

Those who are Ghost Recon fanatics will enjoy this, but those who want to take a look at the series might be better off picking up the original.

The heavy use of sniping scopes provides an exciting sense of realism, as do the look, feel of recoil, and reload animations of the guns.

But the landscapes have opened up tremendously, the controls have been tightened, and the graphics have improved and the game play is classic.

Sure, the single-player campaign can be a letdown. Your money's well-spent, however, once you log on and play with other people.

Some may find it a little sub-par in presentation, but it still is a very entertaining outing for the Ghosts.

At the end of the day, Jungle Storm doesn't do much to stand out in a crowded genre.

You'll have to look to multiplayer to get the greatest enjoyment from Jungle Storm.

In just about every way, Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm is more of the same: more missions, more multiplayer options, more maps. It’ll satiate the demands of Ghost Recon fans just fine, but all that ‘more’ stuff might not be enough to draw in anyone new.

A solid tactical shooter for PS2 owners, but with Rainbow Six 3 and SOCOM II currently engaging gamers, there are better choices.

Certainly an improvement on its predecessor, but it still lacks the visual punch to offer any competition with the PC or Xbox games.

Despite the numerous missions on the disc, you can zip through the entire game in an afternoon.

Never mind the extremely poor quality of its visuals, the game’s enemy AI and its many bugs will not fail to frustrate gamers.

The landscapes have opened up tremendously, the controls have been tightened, and the graphics have improved. They're not great, but serviceable.

Ghost Recon was fine tactical infantry sim - back in 2001. This new PS2 version is solid, but it pales when compared to modern juggernauts like "SOCOM II."

Basically the same old product with a few new bells and whistles. Nobody is calling that a bad thing.
