Watching all this unfold feels like listening to a jazz musician tee up changes for other players to jam over. Slight variations ripple and become riveting permutations. We've seen and to a certain extent done much of this in games like Far Cry 4 and Watch Dogs 2. But never on this scale, or as deftly balanced.

The action packed gameplay and well developed story make the time in Bolivia enjoyable, and the freedom to play solo or cooperatively through campaign caters to anyone’s preferred social level in gaming. Wildlands might not be what longtime fans were hoping for from a new Ghost Recon, but putting expectations aside, Wildlands is not a game to miss.

A stunning open world, brutal combat, and deep customization combine to bring Ghost Recon roaring back from the dead.

There’s so much fun to be had here, and the co-op is probably the best I’ve seen in a long time. The country of Bolivia is massive and fun to explore, with plenty to do and visuals that never fail to impress.

It’s quickly becoming my favorite first-person shooter of the year, thanks to its impressive landscape, captivating storyline and fully customizable characters. The short list of negatives pale in comparison its highlights. All and all, Ghost Recon: Wildlands delivers and should easily be a contender for 2017’s best first-person shooter, if not best game. It’s magnificent, unique, and certainly worth your time.

Ghost Recon Wildlands takes the series to the (vast) open world and largely succeeds. Like its predecessors, it’s best played with friends in co-op, and while it sacrifices some realism, it adds a lot of new opportunities for fun and mayhem against the bad guys.
Worth Playing

Your enjoyment of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is going to depend heavily on how you react to the game's fundamental changes. On the one hand, the move to an open world makes it feel less like a traditional Ghost Recon title, and the inclusion of a radio station that sounds like it belongs in Saints Row or Grand Theft Auto doesn't convert those who want that classic feeling. On the other hand, that same open-world setting combined with the more traditional gunplay mechanics plays out well, there's plenty to do at any time, and it's loads of fun either playing solo or with others. Wildlands is a great game that is worth playing, so long as you aren't averse to change.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is not a perfect game, but it is outstanding when it comes to its gameplay experience and every fan of action and stealth games should not miss it.

The new game on Ghost Recon series gives us a huge open world full of natural landscapes and missions to complete, unfortunately a lot of its content falls on the same repetitive formula than similar open world games. Besides that, Ghost Recon returns with a deep weapon personalization system, interesting tactical gameplay and tons of fun, especially when you play it on co-op.

Wildlands certainly offers a challenging and satisfying multiplayer experience: the new game affords the player the chance to choose his personal approach to the missions. Wildlands is also set in an enormous and varied open world in which we can play alone or with our friends.

Repetitive gameplay loops aside, the cooperative tactical variety and vast open world make Ghost Recon Wildlands a singular experience unlike any other shooter on the market. Wildlands may not succeed with all its ambitions, but it’s a compelling direction for the series that points to a fertile future.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands proves that Ubisoft has taken what they have learned from all of their previous titles and used it to work for the future. There are noticeable aspects from Rainbow Six, The Division, Assassin's Creed and Far Cry all at work here without ever making Ghost Recon feel like a copy. What may be lacking in the single player elements of the game are made up for over and over again when playing with friends. If you are on the fence about getting this to join with your buddies, bite that bullet and grab this game up. If you don’t have an online connection or anybody to play with, maybe hold off and catch it when it goes on sale.

A solid open world game that unfortunately falls short due to its repetition, even though most of its single player flaws are absent when playing online.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands can really be an exhilarating game, thanks to the huge possibilities given to the player and the beauty of the Bolivian scenery (and the great fun when played in coop with other three friends). Unfortunately, a bunch of not insignificant flaws turn it into a missed opportunity, something that could've been bigger and better.

A nice try by Ubisoft, but it lacks enough variety in its gameplay to retain players for long enough... Plus its narrative isn't as deep as we would have liked.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is all over the place in terms of its quality. Some missions are frustrating, the game is not without its technical and design flaws, and its sandbox action can sometimes be repetitive, ludicrous and over-the-top. On the positive side, the game packs a vast amount of missions to keep you busy, features a magnificent open world, and is simply highly entertaining to play - especially cooperatively. Don't go in expecting perfection, but if you're into shooting, sneaking, and driving, Ghost Recon Wildlands is a lot of fun.

Despite the generic setting, and an over-abundance of Ubisoft-style menus, levels, and statistics, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is a fun, tactical, engaging shooter with plenty of depth and good AI. The freedom and nature of the open-world mission approach, while familiar to Far Cry and Phantom Pain fans, allows for some truly creative tactical experiences and enjoyable gameplay moments. Stable matchmaking and the random nature of human players make the co-op a blast as well.

Though far from perfect, Ghost Recon Wildlands is one of the most effective franchise reboots in recent memory. It manages to build upon the key squad-based mechanics that set the series apart, while not feeling the need to pander to the established fan base. The result is a fantastically realized open world that legitimately feels like it could be a real geographic location. Now that I’ve had a taste of the new Ghost Recon, I couldn’t imagine going back.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is a very good open world co-op game (that can be played in solo), with loads of content. On the other hand, it feels quite like any other Ubisoft open world game and lacks a bit in personality.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands marks the debut of the series in the open world genre and does a pretty good job at it, delivering a huge campaign playable alone or online.
