At this price, though, it's hard to knock something for being fun and accessible, even when it's not exactly pushing the boundaries. And with 16-player multiplayer to seal the deal, Top Gun finally has a decent game to call its own.

Top Gun delivers some intense aerial action while it lasts, but it's a very short ride.

Top Gun ends up being fair to middling; and is certainly a long way from being the best flight-combat game out there. Although, you could do worse.

Top Gun is okay, but it certainly doesn't impress.

If you like flight-sims, definitely try a demo of this game at least and make your own opinion. If you aren't familiar with this genre though, stay away and go spend your money on something more fun, like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World maybe.

The presentation is sloppy and pulls you out of the action inexplicably at times, but there is fun to be had here.

If you think you have what it takes to be the next "Top Gun," you can take to the skies for $15 on the PlayStation Store. However, if you decide not to take the gamble on this game, perhaps a video rental of that classic movie will give a much better feel for the real "Maverick."

This is a simple and entertaining arcade game, but its campaign falls too short in durability.

Ultimately Top Gun for PSN is enjoyable but far too short to the point where I'd have to question the value for dollar.

We've no problem with Top Gun's short length, but we do have a problem with the dull gameplay and uninspiring visuals.

Top Gun is average at best and boring at worst.

Top Gun is amusing for a little while, and hearing "Danger Zone" again (even if it is a cover... c'mon, why not the original?) is all well and good, but when it's so monotonous and has so little character in the "plot", it won't stay in play for too long.

Top Gun has a simple gameplay, an engine with too many issues, and a tasteless story mode.

Repetitive missions and drab recitals of dialogue don't justify the price.

Top Gun is short, not particularly attractive, has awful voice acting, and costs $15. If you're absolutely desperate for a flight combat game, Top Gun might seem attractive, but there are better F-14 starring titles to choose from on PSN.

Top Gun isn't the worst flight combat game out there, but there are also far better ones. It's sad that such a great film franchise has been giving so little respect, as Top Gun the film has all the ingredients for making a fabulous game.

This downloadable reincarnation could've introduced Maverick to a new generation of flight combat fans who haven't seen the film. With lackluster campaign missions, empty-looking levels and awkward dialogue between every other character but your own, this is almost guaranteed to not happen.

I can sum up Top Gun with a single word. "Embarrassing". "Unnecessary" also works. We don't need this game.

The game didn't even make me want to quote Top Gun once in this review. It's just not good, even if you feel the need… the need for speed.

With a little more time and attention, Top Gun could have been a decent flight simulator. If you're into flying games, buy one that takes itself more serious.
