Undercover: Operation Wintersun may have its flaws, but that doesn’t prevent it from being a very satisfying exercise in espionage. Besides, with so many games being dumbed down to accommodate gamer’s allergic to a healthy challenge, it’s hard not to appreciate a title that demands more of players than simple blind clickery.

Overall, Undercover: Operation Wintersun is well worth playing for fans of traditional adventures.

A fine example of a traditional adventure game, with an engaging storyline, challenging puzzles and visuals and sound that combine for a good atmosphere. It's without a doubt the best point and click game I've played in a long time, despite its flaws.

U:OW is worth a buy for those seeking to use brain over brawn to dash the hopes of the Nazis. In order to get the most out of the game, however, gamers will likely have to overlook the spotty voice acting and a generally uninteresting protagonist and focus more on the larger goal of disrupting the Nazis’ plans.

Vast amounts of patience are required for some of the more peculiar puzzles, and this may turn off many gamers. There are better options available, but adventure fans may still want to give U:OW a whirl.

The sum of an adventure game’s parts however is equal to that of the quality of the puzzles. Operation Wintersun gives us a mixed bag indeed.

Rather than feel like you're in constant danger in the lair of the enemy, you'll feel more like you're whiling away the hours on a Saturday afternoon playing with the odds and ends lying around on your garage tool bench.

Enjoyable. Still, lots more could have been done with this setting, particularly in terms of adding in more types and settings that reinforce the War. The story, though brief, is definitely enjoyable but the voice actors just can't manage to work up enough energy to really get things going.

Also, the stability of the mission is precarious--it may crash abruptly and cause you to restart from your most recently saved information.

It’s just so frustrating. Not only the puzzles, for all the wrong reasons, but the fact that what could have been a perfectly decent adventure has been yet again held back by the same old ridiculously common mistakes.

My final impressions of Undercover: Operation Wintersun were of a strong start and finish, and a somewhat pedestrian in between. As I said before, solid gaming, but nothing special.

The bottom line is that this game started out incredibly strong with a lot of potential, then (technical issues aside) started to fizzle out about midway through.

You'll be left scouring the floor for items no bigger than a gnat's nutsack.

Higgledy-bonkers point-and-click nonsense. From hell.

Spy-story noir meets ridiculous adventure-game puzzles in this misguided tale of Nazis and nukes.
