Regardless of how you choose to play Valheim, it is a fantastic survival crafting experience that is more than worth its cost for the potentially hundreds of hours you could spend in its world, and it will only get better with time.

If you are not hostile to the principle of early access, sold at a low price, in this case, know that Valheim already offers a very stable and complete experience, which will expand over time and which you can also go through. alone with a generous handful of friends. To be watched over time, therefore.

This is a survival game made by people who really like survival games—but don't necessarily like the genre's tedium....We've put games in our year-end lists for less potential than what I've already enjoyed in Valheim thus far, and I don't see us getting out of 2021 without repeating praise for this killer multiplayer adventure option on PC.

It can be hard to rate an early-access title because you have to understand that what you're playing isn't complete yet, regardless of how good or bad it is. However, in its current state, Valheim is already well worth picking up. The future is very bright for this game.

Valheim is already a paragon of the survival crafting genre, with excellent art and music highlighting a world that generates endless exciting stories from only a few simple ingredients.

Whether this Viking simulator can differentiate itself from other survival games remains to be seen. However, as an early access game, it works well, and it's definitely worth a look, especially if you're a fan of Assassins Creed: Valhalla or the recent God of War reboot.

One of the best things about Valheim is that it it doesn’t hold your hand, but doesn’t leave you floundering in the dark, either. Although it does leave you stranded in the woods, quite literally, with nothing but your bare hands and some talking ravens for company.

After 30 hours you’ll still feel like you’ve only scratched the surface, with every new encounter feeling fresh and rewarding. It’s also impressive to think that this is your world alone and that anyone else playing will have their own unique experience with happenstance adventures. You can play solo but with more territories and bosses to come you’ll soon want to convince your friends to join you, so you can adventure together. And for such a low price it will be hard for them to say no.

The social experience Valheim provides, or sometimes the lack thereof, is currently second to none. While it bears some similarities to multiplayer games that allow us to keep in touch with friends and loved ones who are far away, it also provides a way into the virtual outside world, to take walks in forests with people we enjoy or to create a curated community experience.

Valheim’s realism is so apparent that it’s easy to recognize, but not too much so that it would turn those looking for a similar experience to, say, Minecraft, away. Survival games are what you make of them, and that’s the beauty in it.

In its current state, it's an incredibly engrossing experience and perhaps the first survival game of its kind to match Minecraft in pure fun factor. And if it's already this impressive in early access, one can only imagine how good it will be when it has its full release.

Valheim came virtually out of nowhere, but it is undoubtedly a phenomenon that has marked PC gaming in the first months of 2021. Despite its Early Access status, it is already remarkably rich with quality content that can be enjoyed both solo and grouped, and its future looks even brighter.

In the beginning Valheim seems to be the standard run-of-the-mill open world survival game following well-known templates. But then the fun seriously kicks in and you get drawn into this norse world.

I’m not going to lie, Valheim surprised the hell out of me. However, having now experienced what it has to offer, from its chill vibe to its focus on co-operation to its ability to chew up time like it’s going out of fashion, it’s no surprise that it has been as successful as it is. If you have a PC that can run it (and, thankfully, the requirements aren’t outrageous), you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. Game of the year so far for me.

Despite being in early access, Valheim has a lot to love. There's a wealth of content, some impressively deep systems, and an ever-expanding community, it feels like the sky is the limit. It's perfect to share with friends and can be wonderfully meditative when played solo. If you like survival, Vikings and a bright future with constant updates, Valheim is the game for you.

Overall, Valheim is a fairly complete game even though it is still in early-access. It suffers from some of the normal bugs and glitches that you see in other early-access titles but it also has a lot of content that is wonderful and works well. It is a great group game if you have a bunch of friends who feel like building Norse villages and going raiding. You can get this on Steam right now. I can't wait for future updates.

Valheim is a good, even great, game. But these days, games have to be more than just games. And Valheim is pretty good at that, too.
