No-frills continuation of the steampunk dungeon crawler between Legend of Grimrock and BioShock that keeps its freshness.

Players who are in search for a satisfying first-person dungeon-crawling experience will find themselves at home with Vaporum: Lockdown. Surrounding a somewhat by-the-numbers story is an enjoyable combat system that keeps a constant sense of progression and multiple puzzles that will test anyone’s mettle, all immersed in a steampunk-inspired setting.

Vaporum: Lockdown is quite an interesting take on Bioshock, with insanely hard puzzles, uninspiring plot, and boring enemy designs. But given how rare the setting is, it's not like you have a lot to choose from.

Very nice oldschool step-by-step dungeon RPG with untraditional steampunk setting and perfect monster design.

It’s a decent game but not much more. It has everything a solid dungeon crawler should have, but it is also too derivative and predictable to be truly exciting.

Vaporum: Lockdown takes an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach. Not much has changed since the original, and it doesn't offer a different experience to Legend of Grimrock beyond a different setting and focusing on one player character instead of a party system. To anyone looking for more in this genre, or maybe looking to scratch a BioShock itch, the game will serve its purpose admirably. But for anyone who wants something new, didn't love those games, or never saw the appeal of grid-based RPGs in the first place, there isn't much that Vaporum: Lockdown has to offer that will change their minds.
