It proves that you don’t need hyper detailed, synapse-sizzling graphics to deliver a great game when ingenuity and solid mechanics will do.

It’s fair to say that Victorious Boxing will develop fine stick control more than simply being male ever could and, as in life, the rewards are vast, with expert wagglers able to move and fall into a lean-accentuated strike all in one, ahem, fluid motion.

A surprisingly deep and compelling boxing game, despite its overall minimalist approach to design, sound, and presentation.

No one has ever really captured the feel of this sweet science as precisely as Victorious Boxers has.

VB may fall short in terms of graphics and options, but the bread-and-butter of any game, the gameplay, is outstanding. You won't find a better, more enjoyable boxing game than this.

What makes the game fun is its ease of control...It's light years above "Ready 2 Rumble" and "Knockout Kings."

It’s the control that sets Victorious Boxers apart from "Knockout Kings" and "Ready to Rumble" – it’s nearly perfect.

They score major points on style, definition, and realism in movement. But points get taken away for the sparse look and sound effects.

This is the best "pure" boxing you'll find on the PS2.

Although the play mechanics are very solid and intuitive, the controls get in the way to the point that it affects the gameplay. With another control scheme, this game would've been recommended a bit higher.

While manga-style characters may not substitute for the real-world boxers in "Knockout Kings," this game does a better job capturing the speed and drama of the sport.

Shoddy control and awful collision detection only worsen what could have been a decent game otherwise.
