Whale Rock Games has put together quite a doozy for hardcore RTS fans. It’s definitely not fitting for a casual strategy gamer like me, or those who prefer fewer moving parts in their RTSes. But even with the ragequit difficulty, it’s hard to deny that the game mechanics themselves are as solid and fair as the environments are gorgeous.

We Are The Dwarves is not the best RTS game out there, but its difficulty is addictive enough to suck any good PC gamer in for more than a few hours.

We are the Dwarves is a Challenging strategic experience, but sometimes you feel restricted in your actions.

Overall, We Are the Dwarves is slightly too difficult, in a way that would make me apprehensive about going back to it rather than spur me to try again.

A risky, interesting, attractive bet for any player who is looking for something different ... but that fails with a too choosy mechanics, which makes it boring and frustrating.

Challenging but funny game with interesting concept and a few issues uses dwarf race in an unusual way.

There’s fun to be had here, but I’m still not entirely certain if enjoying it is worth suffering through the shortcomings that never should have been.

This tactical game about dwarves exploring an alien planet will not forgive any mistakes and will boss you around, but is completely fair in its ruthlessness. It’s a shame that brilliant setting was wasted by writers and the game itself becomes monotonous after a while.

Although We Are the Dwarves had an amazing potential with a great concept and interesting mechanics, its technical oversights and gimmicky difficulty force the game to miss its mark.

Despite the original setting, it’s hard to say that We Are The Dwarves is an engaging game. It has three distinct characters, but their skills don’t lend themselves to interesting combinations. Not to mention that stylized graphic make it hard to tell the landscape features and enemy placement at a glance.

Dwarves and astronauts, a strange and unique combination for a potentially original exponent of the RTS’ genre. Despite the interesting premise We Are the Dwarves has too many flaws, both technical and gameplay-wise to overtake the sufficiency.

The story is a little on the light side, but it makes up for it with intense battles and well designed environments. You will die a lot in this game, but ultimately it’s a satisfying experience.

Whale Rock games have done a great job of making an engaging, challenging and rewarding game (if not the deepest in story-terms) but the difficulty makes it pretty prohibitive for most gamers.

An immersive environment and interesting story. It can be hard and could do with clearer text.

Where We are the Dwarves fails to deliver is mission balance, plain and simple.

Shoddy graphics, clunky camera, a stump of a story - this game is rife with shortcomings. But, if you yearn for Commandos-style gameplay, this is probably the best option for you so far.

There’s a depth to the lore and world-building that you rarely see at this scale. But the level design is so constrictive and the difficulty so fierce that it’s a constant fight to have fun.

We Are The Dwarves shouldn’t be completely dismissed, as it still at least has some neat ideas, controls nicely and looks pretty, but it comes across being so viciously unfair that it can only be recommended to the most hardcore fans of this genre.

We Are the Dwarves is an incomplete game. It wastes a lot of good ideas in a sea of problems that you thought would've been fixed at launch. But they didn't

Lower difficulty level and focus on stealth or action mechanics could make We Are The Dwarves a worthwhile proposition. In its current state, the Whale Rock Games' production can only be recommended for players fond of extreme challenges.
