I can only assume that this upcoming Witcher book for children will be a lot more tame in terms of the folk horror, fantasy racist, and brutal violence that I associate with the series.
It's time to bring back hardcovers that tie in with gaming cookbooks. It's time to bring out videogame children's book. Show me some real M-rated content that is filtered so that Billy doesn't get permanently scarred. He'll find enough of it on YouTube, Discord and Roblox.
The Little Witcher is a children's novel about everyone's favorite mutated sorceress and monster hunter. The Little Witcher will be released on May 13, 2025. It features illustrations by Giada carboni and writing by "the creative mind behind The Witcher videogames." I'm curious to know if the book will give credit to the CD Projekt collective or individual writers, but it's possible that their names may be attached individually. Although this is a CDPR project, I'm reminded by a quote from Andrzej SAPkowski, the original author of the series: "If Geralt got paid, I wouldn't care if he appeared in a toothpaste advertisement."
The Little Witcher is cute and I can't imagine that the makers aren't on board with the joke. The Little Witcher targets "Witcher Fans raising Little Ciris" and "Players looking for a lighter twist on their favorite games." The blurb for the book on Penguin Random House's site reads:
"With help from Geralt and Ciri's closest companions--including the motherly magic of Yennefer of Vengerberg and the wisdom of uncle Vesemir--these adorable tales of a non-traditional family will make you laugh, make you sigh, and make you realize that raising a Little Witcher is not that different from raising any other kid. Geralt may invoke the Witcher Code in order to get Ciri clean her room or brush her teeth, but even White Wolf will give up when it comes to bedtime fights or Afternoon Tea.
It's all good fun but I was trying to think of some other M-rated books for children. The only thing I could think of was "Grand Theft Auto: Nice City." Is there juice in there?
