GrizzlyGames says that the 1.0 update for Thronefall is complete. It includes three new levels, some new equipment and other great little features. This is just a bonus to one of the most popular indie micro-strategy titles of the last few years. It's a real gem of the emerging movement. Thronefall is a simple game that lets you place buildings on pre-made map spots. You can also be creative with your equipment, specialties, and the order in which you build.
"Thronefall is a classic strategy that we stripped of all unnecessary complexity and combined with some healthy hack-and-slay. Build up your base in the day and defend it until your last breath at midnight, said developers Grizzly games.
Three new maps are included in the full version: a misty swamp, a fortress, and the final battle in the dark and terrifying land of Totend. You can also equip your sovereign with new equipment, such as explosive potions to heal allies while damaging adversaries, a axe for crushing enemies in close quarters and a magic blood wand to cause some magical mayhem. There are also some upgrades to the quality of life, such as the ability to predict which enemies will appear next in waves. No more being surprised by nasty fliers that appear out of nowhere.
Thronefall's early user reviews on Steam are overwhelmingly positive, with 96% of over 15,000 reviews giving it a thumbs-up. The same percentage is also true for the recent 30-day reviews, which number over 500.
Last year, Sean Martin and I got a first taste of Thronefall when we played the demo and early-access release versions. I haven't been keeping up with it but I'm eager to see what an entire year of updates will bring.
Thronefall is available on Steam for $13, but you can get it at a 25% discount, or $9.75, until October 25.
