I’d absolutely suggest giving World War Z a shot, even more so if you were a fan of Left 4 Dead. It really scratches that itch, namely a fun, zombie focused co-op shooter with a solid progression system that’ll keep you hooked for a while. So despite its association with a so-so horror film, World War Z manages to rise above its source material into something that I found to be a lot of fun.

I think this game is a credit to the movie and is just balls out fun. I recommend it to anyone who loves working with others in a frantic shooting match. Give it a try!

World War Z is a blast to play featuring some great action and some intense encounters that should be experienced by anyone looking for a great co-op game.

World War Z is a pretty fun but extremely short co-op zombie shooter that is eerily similar to Left4Dead but helps counter the withdrawal any fans of that franchise may have. A few more bug fixes and much more in-game content would give this game the much-needed resuscitation it deserves.

At first glance, there was little promise here. A movie tie-in to a pretty bad movie, so long after it, and clearly taking more than inspiration from another existing popular franchise? Yet, what at first seems like just another shallow Left 4 Dead clone reveals itself to be so much more, it feels more a true successor to its inspiration, definitely one to pick up for groups of friends looking for a new game to enjoy together, even more so for the Left 4 Dead fans out there. If the stability issues can be resolved, this is going to superb and needs to be on more people's radar.

All in all, World War Z is undoubtedly a ton of fun, especially if you have friends to play (and chat) with. If you're a fan of the Left 4 Dead games or Killing Floor, chances are very good you'll enjoy this game as well. If you aren't, I would recommend trying this game as a rental just to try it out before you dive in, as the entry price (for now) is rather high compared to similar games in the genre. And of course, remember to aim for the head.

World War Z is a surprisingly fresh take on the well-trodden Left 4 Dead formula. While a bit rough around the edges and nowhere near as groundbreaking as Valve’s series, World War Z is a confident co-op shooter that turns the intensity to 11 without being overwhelming or obnoxious. If you think you’ve got the stamina, this war is worth enlisting for.

I didn’t expect much out of World War Z as a licensed title, but Saber Interactive has done a great job adapting the IP’s globe-spanning scope and massive hordes of zombies while bolstering it with inspiration from a past classic. I’m not sure that I’d recommend it for players who insist on playing alone, but for those who have at least one friend or those who don’t mind recruiting some randos, it’s a great way to kill a million zombies over a weekend.

World War Z successfully recreates the most spectacular scenes of the movie. The co-op experience works well but it's a bit short and doesn't add anything fresh to the genre.

Though clearly inspired by Left 4 Dead in its mechanics, World War Z plays differently. It doesn't have the same depth, which limits it to a simple way to let off steam, but it can offer some good memories for you and your friends.

It's easy to compare the game to Left 4 Dead, but even that game's impressive zombie swarms can't compete with the jaw-dropping sight of World War Z's enemies.

Aside from the glaring technical issues and the almost blatant copy-paste job of the formula from the Left 4 Dead series, World War Z should offer a satisfactory experience for anyone wanting to kill some time and some zombies in the process. Of course, there are a wealth of far better games out there which one could spend their hard-earned money on, but $40 isn’t too steep of an asking price for what WWZ‘s third-person shooter action has to offer.

It’s safe to say that World War Z doesn’t shy away from its undeniable likeness to Valve’s 10 year old masterpiece. In borrowing many of that game's ideas, from its AI engine to the uncannily similar special zombies, it's actually become a spiritual successor that can scratch that Left 4 Dead itch. World War Z might lack in originality, but this isn’t enough to deter from the brainless, fast-paced, cooperative shooter action that you can effortlessly sink hours into and unknowingly get a real soft spot for.

World War Z's a competent, fun squad-based shooter that really showcases the swarms very well. There's a swift pacing to the missions which can snag when playing alone. As a multiplayer effort, it finds its footing more confidently. The progression should help keep players involved although I'd love to have more episodes to play through.

World War Z is the new third-person shooter from Sabre Interactive. Gear up to fight the gigantic horde of zombies. Travel around the globe to uncover multiple storylines.

With a budget price, in fact, it offers a co-operative campaign that - while banishing any form of narration - will entertain and entertain those who will play it with other colleagues. This is due, in a nutshell, to the only real diamond point of the offer: the gore system and the swarms of the undead.

World War Z is a game full of zombie hordes, a feeling of great burden and a great experience to engage with friends. But at the same time, the negative points are huge, from bad gunplay to the scant variety and very short duration. And these weigh heavily on the title.

PlayStation LifeStyle April 22, 2019
If you want something you don’t have to think too deeply about or are into competitive multiplayer with friends, then World War Z could be for you. But if you’re expecting an in-depth narrative and a campaign that requires strategy and coordination, then perhaps you should stay away.

World War Z has a Left 4 Dead-based-DNA that exposes too much its lack of originality. The game, in its essence, is fun and enjoyable, but most of the merit it isn't all of its doing.
