Worlds of Magic is a nice modernization of Master of Magic. It is a pity that the AI is too passive and the UI feels like it is still 90s.

Worlds of Magic invades your life like a hungry spirit of a Christmas long past due, its eyes alight with blue flame, its bony fingers grasping the autobiography of Master of Magic. In a few hours, after it’ll disappear in a puff of glitchy smoke, your head will ache and you’ll have trouble remembering the events of your time together. Still, you’ll have a feeling that it wasn’t all that bad.

Worlds of Magic is a solid turn-based strategy, although it's not without issues. Perhaps not especially good-looking, but still satisfying for fans of the genre.

Usable turn-based strategy does have a lot of mistakes, but you can feel the fanatical enthusiasm of its creators. And we can’t forget a few really good ideas in this piece.

There are a ton of small annoyances that collectively detracted from my overall experience with Worlds of Magic, mainly because the game was still unfinished. Glitching tooltips and crashes (which happened less often since one of the updates), together with the obfuscated nature of how things work, made the game unsatisfying.

A strategic game pointing more about amarcord rather than on its effective qualities, much more limited than the amount of feature would initially suggest. A varied product but, definitively not exciting.

All-too similar playable factions is just one of letdowns of Worlds of Magic. Building and expanding a fantasy empire feels like a chore.

Worlds of Magic would have been passable had it not been so buggy.

It’s got some strong foundations but the execution begs for a mercy killing.

Its fantasy world is undercut by bland artistic direction and a lack of conviction.
