Worms 3D Critic Reviews

If you are a fan of the Worms series, then by all means pick this one up. You will love it. If you are new to the Worms series, you might want to try one of the 2d ones first.

The weapons are hardly original, the environments good but not graphically amazing, animations are basic and the voices can repeat. But combine all the elements of the game and you get one very addicitive title.

It's literally hours of fun, and I am as serious as I can be about that. Worms 3D takes a classic game that I have always enjoyed, added the 3D part yet completely kept the gameplay intact perfectly.

A game with endless replay value, a solid single-player campaign and challenge missions, and plenty of random levels with changeable options for both single and multi-player matches.

It may be the single cutest way possible to empty an Uzi into your friends' heads. If there's ever going to be another 3D installment, though, it'd be nice if you could set the map on a flat plain, rather than on an endless procession of islands.

Just as addictive as its predecessors, but features more thoughtful challenges and conquests.

Despite the criticisms, Team 17 has still managed to pull off an impressive evolution of a much-loved series. The core game has remained barely unchanged, but the 3D engine introduces a lot of unexpected elements to get used to, both good and bad.

This particular game is essentially a glorified chess match. What sets Worms apart is the plethora of strategic possibilities and its sense of humor. While I don’t expect the series to develop much beyond this point, it’s a pleasant diversion.

Worms 3D's new engine isn't a necessary improvement on the classic and enduring 2D game, but the upgrade works, even if it makes the controls a little more cumbersome. It still has the tone, humour and playability that is synonymous with Worms.

Although the game features some rough patches from a 3D engine that isn’t entirely seamless, Worms 3D has all the loveable qualities necessary to be worth a purchase.

The 3-D element didn’t change the overall elements of the game that made it great, and in addition it was a smooth changeover in my opinion that went surprisingly well.

The game really shines in multiplayer mode and is a great game to play with friends if you’re tired of the lame mini-games found in most party games.

In spite of a poorly constructed multiplayer scheme and the lack of online play, Worms 3D is a successful transition into three dimensions without sacrificing quality gameplay in the process. With the formula down path, hopefully Team 17 can deliver the perfect Worms console experience next time around.

Though the appeal wears thin a lot more quickly, it still has some thanks to the large amount of content and just the overall polish and humor of the game.

I’ve heard it’s possible to get up to 16 people on a single game, each controlling a worm. With those kinds of numbers, and this kind of destruction, Worms 3D can be a good evening’s worth of entertainment.

Use of certain weapons and locomotion across the map can be cumbersome, and the game just doesn't have that same pendulum energy of before in the fights.

The old-timers out there may find that though the transition to 3D is novel, it doesn't really have much impact on the overall experience.

While the fantastic Worms formula stays intact here, it becomes infinitely more difficult to gauge distances, wind, and all that in 3D. For that reason alone, I can't recommend this one over its 2D predecessors.

Is Worms 3D as good as its predecessors such as Worms, and Worms Armageddon? No, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean that Worms 3D should be overlooked.

If you're getting a few mates around and don't have enough controllers for them, give Worms 3D a rent as you only need one controller to play the multiplayer.
