With WRC 4, Milestone has taken a big step forward. Both the graphics and the physics are much better here than in WRC 3 and the new Career Mode is good enough to entertain both expert and beginner players.

A licensed simulation that provides the die-hard fans with everything they want, but also allows the newcomer to learn and build and even have a fun arcade thrash around some very pretty tracks? That seems a pretty good template to me. If the limited multiplayer was expanded upon slightly, it would be even better.

Thanks to a deep and convincing handling system WRC 4 gave players a solid racing experience. However, too simple and repetitive game modes and some technical issues, prevent the game from achieving excellence.

WRC: FIA World Rally Championship 4 delivers the usual solid, fun rally experience, packed with lots of content.

We think Milestone should have put more effort into this game, since there are little additions compared to the previous edition. The foundations are great, and the game is pretty good indeed, but there's still a long way to go.

Good stuff, then, but hard to get too excited about.

WRC 4 continues Milestone's trend of satisfying but unremarkable rally games. Some key areas have clearly been worked on, but the core experience still lags behind Dirt when it comes to capturing the pure excitement of off-road racing, and Career mode is nothing that we haven't seen dozens of times in other racing games.

The co-driver and the learning curve in WRC 4 are pretty decent, and the addition of real drivers and teams is something that will appeal to the real fan. But it isn't enough to be satisfied with the game. WRC 4 suffers from uninspiring modes, weird choices, strange handling and a damage- and physics model that just isn't right. It’s a shame that this game - once again - doesn't realize his potential.

WRC 4 is a perfect example of an annualised game at its worst, having churned out yet another sub-par performance which rests on average and has no drive to go further and actually be worthwhile.

Yet again Milestone delivers a mediocre racing experience.

WRC 4 is a racing game that works, whenever the framerate is stable. Aside from that it’s hindered by a myriad of technical issues and a lack of inspiration.

Three strikes and you’re out? Not with Milestone and WRC suffers from it. Unless competition rises somewhere else, any new installment in this series will be merely a change in the number.
